  • Patent number: 8009183
Abstract: Two or more kinds of thermal paper are set in a paper housing unit, whether the thermal paper are double-side thermal paper or one-side thermal paper is previously determined by printing marks and detecting the printed marks, and the thermal paper are selectively fed for double-side printing and one-side printing.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 8, 2009
Date of Patent: August 30, 2011
    Assignee: Toshiba Tec Kabushiki Kaisha
    Inventor: Sumio Baba
  • Patent number: 7782349
Abstract: A thermal paper sheet having heat-sensitive layers on a first surface and a second surface having a front-and-rear relationship is prepared. A first thermal head which comes into contact with a front surface of this thermal paper sheet and a second thermal head which comes into contact with a rear surface 1b of the same are provided. Further, printing data input from the outside is divided into first printing data and second printing data. The thermal heads are driven in accordance with the printing data.

  • Patent number: 7671878
Abstract: A thermal printer has a first thermal head, a second thermal head, and a feeding mechanism. The feeding mechanism feeds one of thermal papers which include a double-sided thermal paper having thermosensitive layers formed on both sides thereof and a single-sided thermal paper having a thermosensitive layer formed on one side thereof. The first thermal head is so provided as to be brought into contact with a first side of the thermal paper fed by the feeding mechanism. The second thermal head is so provided as to be brought into contact with a second side of the thermal paper fed by the feeding mechanism. The thermal printer determines whether a mark has been printed at least one of the first and second sides of the thermal paper and controls print operation based on a determination result.

  • Patent number: 5883669
Abstract: A device having a display device employing a cathode-ray tube and an electron beam includes an on-screen display memory for storing data used to display white on an entire screen of the cathode-ray tube, a circuit for supplying signals used to display white on the entire screen of the said display device employing the electron beam based on the data stored in the on-screen display memory, and a controller for outputting a signal indicative of a command for displaying white on the entire screen from the on-screen display memory in accordance with a de-energizing operation. The signals used to display white on an entire screen of the cathode-ray tube are output to the display device employing the electron beam after the device having the display device is de-energized. Displayed contents are erased by removing a residual high voltage in the display device employing the electron beam.

  • Patent number: 5436669
Abstract: In order to display a video signal having an aspect ratio of 4 to 3 on a video display screen having a 16 to 9 aspect ratio a nonlinear vertical deflection signal is used to compress the video image along the top and bottom edges of the 16 to 9 aspect ratio screen. The video image is compressed only along the top and bottom edges of the screen because it has been found that motion of the point of view of the viewer relative to the displayed image is generally horizontal but is infrequently vertical. One approach to providing the non-linear vertical deflection waveform is to detect whether the input video signal for display on a 16 to 9 aspect ratio screen is a 4 to 3 aspect ratio signal and, if so, to read out special, non-linear data from a memory. This special waveform data is used to generate the non-linear vertical deflection waveform.
