    Abstract: A system for accessing a write-once read-many storage medium is intended to modify and update a stored data on the medium according to an operator's desire and easily manage the modified data and the updated data on the storage medium. The system is arranged to have a first and second searching unit, a writing unit and a reading unit. The first searching unit operates to search a non-writing area next to a last data-written area on a data storage area of the storage medium and the writing unit operates to read the updated data on the searched area. The second searching unit operates to search a last data-written area on the storage medium and the reading unit operates to read the data from the searched area. For searching the area by the second searching unit, a binary search may be used.

    Abstract: An electronic filing apparatus files documents employing an optically readable mark sheet. A scanner reads a set of data sheets including the mark sheet and original sheets. The mark sheet sets reading conditions for scanning the original sheets in the scanner according to marks on the mark sheet. Original image data on the original sheets is read based on the set reading conditions and filed in a storage device. For filing small amounts of information, both control mark and original image information may be included on a single sheet. The mark sheet may include marks representing search terms descriptive of the content of the original image data which can be used by an operator to search the electronically registered and filed documents.

The converting circuit sequentially and temporarily stores the retrieved image data by extracting selectably either every bit or every Nth bit of the retrieved image data sequentially, M and N being integers greater than 1.     Abstract: A paper sheet attracting system includes a suction air casing, a paper sheet attracting unit which has a bottom wall provided with a plurality of air intake openings, and a pressure roller for depressing the paper sheets to be supplied. The leading edge of a paper sheet attracted by the paper sheet attracting unit is caught by a paper sheet feeding member for transferring the paper sheet. When the paper sheet feeding member is enabled, the pressure roller is driven to shift upward so that the pressure roller is separated from the paper sheets. Furthermore, when the paper sheet feeding member is enabled, the suction operation conducted by the paper sheet attracting unit is interrupted, whereby the paper sheet is transferred without disturbance.

When the ink droplet is properly charged, the charge amount corresponding to the charge carried by the ink droplet is accumulated on the capacitor. Scanning line electrodes which are not receiving the scanning pulse are connected to receive a voltage signal of which a level is below the threshold level of the light emission.
