  • Patent number: 7488183
Abstract: Embodiments in accordance with the present invention provide a connector for a data storage device having a sufficient strength, and relate to a data storage device using such a connector. In accordance with one embodiment, a data storage device is provided having a circuit board and a connector for making a connection with an external interface. The connector includes bosses disposed on both sides across a center of a direction orthogonal to a direction perpendicular to a main surface of the circuit board and a direction, in which the connector is connected to the interface. The boss is a protrusion that counteracts a force applied to the connector by being embedded in a hole disposed in the circuit board when the connector is disposed in the circuit board.

  • Patent number: 7457068
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a magnetic disk drive having increased efficiency of generation of power for its internal low-voltage blocks. In one embodiment, a magnetic disk drive comprises a main power supply unit for supplying power of a predetermined voltage to a load, the main power supply unit including a switching regulator; a power monitoring circuit for detecting the power supplied from the main power supply unit to the load and for determining whether the detected power exceeds a predetermined power level; and a third power supply unit, if it is determined that the power supplied from the main power supply unit to the load exceeds the predetermined power level, for supplying power of the predetermined voltage to the load, the third power supply unit including a linear regulator.

  • Patent number: 5657176
Abstract: Increased memory capacity for a magnetic disk device is realized without degrading information error rate, by making the number of sectors at a given circumference of the disk variable in accordance with a radial direction of a disk. The number of sectors is made variable by deciding a predetermined information error rate from a ratio of reproduced signal output to noises of head, disk and amplifier at a maximum recording and reproducing frequency at a certain radial position along a disk.
