  • Publication number: 20140149895
Abstract: Embodiments relate to a method to dynamically generate a user interface for computing a prediction on analytical models. The analytical models received from a computing device are parsed by a processor of a server to extract a plurality of analytical metadata and the extracted plurality of analytical metadata is stored in a set of metadata tables. Analytical relationship information from the one or more analytical models is extracted for scoring using the stored plurality of analytical metadata and is stored in a set of relationship tables created by the processor. The user interface is generated using the stored plurality of analytical metadata and displayed on computing device for receiving one or more inputs for each of the data entry fields from a user. The prediction is computed by applying the stored analytical relationship information on the received one or more inputs and displaying the computed prediction on the user interface.

  • Publication number: 20140012626
Abstract: A mechanism for facilitating customer interactions within a customer service environment provides prompt and accurate answers to customer questions. A smart chat facility for use in a customer service environment to predict a customer problem examines a customer chat transcript to identify customer statements that set forth a customer issue and, responsive to this, can route the customer to an agent, an appropriate FAQ, or can implement a problem specific widget in the customer UI. Customer queries are matched with most correct responses and accumulated knowledge is used to predict a best response to future customer queries. The iterative system thus learns from each customer interaction and can adapt to customer responses over time to improve the accuracy of problem prediction.

  • Publication number: 20130324194
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a mobile phone and a method for answering such a phone automatically without user input. In one embodiment, the mobile phone detects that a call is being received. A proximity sensor is then used to detect the presence of a nearby object. For example, this allows a determination to be made whether the mobile phone is within a pocket of the user while the phone is ringing. Then a determination is made whether the proximity sensor changes states. For example, if a user removes the phone from their pocket, the proximity sensor switches from detecting something proximal to detecting that the phone is no longer in the user's pocket. Next, a determination is made whether the proximity sensor is again next to an object, such as an ear. If so, the mobile phone can be automatically answered without further user input.

  • Publication number: 20130131972
Abstract: Technology is described for determining a location at which a computing device is positioned. For example, a computing device is positioned in an area (e.g., building), and a map (e.g., floor plan) is retrieved that depicts the area. An initial location of the computing device is determined with respect to the map. Inertial sensors record motion inputs (e.g., acceleration, orientations, etc.), which are analyzed to determine a path along which the computing device moves. The path is applied to the initial location to determine an updated location at which the computing device may be located.

  • Patent number: 8443365
Abstract: In one embodiment, an initialization script including instructions to define a value of a parameter at a cloned virtual machine instance is generated and stored at a virtual disk of a source virtual machine instance. The value of the parameter at the cloned virtual machine instance is different from the value of the parameter at the source virtual machine instance. An image of the virtual disk is then sent to a virtual machine module. The cloned virtual machine instance is instantiated at the virtual machine module based on the image of the virtual disk.

  • Publication number: 20130073731
Abstract: A system and method of selectively migrating at least one virtual machine to another physical machine is disclosed. Consumption information of a plurality of virtual machines and capacity information of a plurality of physical machines is retrieved. A first virtual machine to be potentially migrated is identified based on a consumption metric representing consumption of at least one resource dimension by the first virtual machine running on a first physical machine. A second physical machine to potentially accept migration of the first virtual machine is identified based on time window information, wherein an available capacity of the second physical machine is analyzed to determine if the first virtual machine's resource consumption exceeds the capacity of the second physical machine. The first virtual machine is migrated to the second physical machine if the first virtual machine's resource consumption does not exceed the available capacity of the second physical machine.

  • Patent number: 8402469
Abstract: Computing resources can be assigned to sub-plans within a query plan to effect parallel execution of the query plan. For example, computing resources in a grid can be represented by nodes, and a shortest path technique can be applied to allocate machines to the sub-plans. Computing resources can be provisionally allocated as the query plan is divided into query plan segments containing one or more sub-plans. Based on provisional allocations to the segments, the computing resources can then be allocated to the sub-plans within respective segments. Multiprocessor computing resources can be supported. The techniques can account for data locality. Both pipelined and partitioned parallelism can be addressed. Described techniques can be particularly suited for efficient execution of bushy query plans in a grid environment. Parallel processing will reduce the overall response time of the query.
