Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and systems for protecting cloud resources. The methods and systems may use a virtual gatekeeper resource to enforce secure access controls to cloud resources for a list of privileged operations. The cloud resources and the virtual gatekeeper resource may be in different security domains within a cloud computing system and the cloud resources may be linked to the virtual gatekeeper resource. A request may be sent to perform a privileged operation on the cloud resource. Access may be provided to the virtual gatekeeper resource in response to approval of the request and the access to the virtual gatekeeper resource may be used to perform the privileged operation on the cloud resource.

Abstract: A media engine may determine if a received media file is according to a format that includes metadata indicating gap information such as in the header of the file container. If metadata indicating gap information is detected that information may be provided to the media engine by a media file parser and used by the media engine to create a media stream with gap(s) removed based on the metadata. If the received media file does not include metadata indicating gap information, heuristics may be employed to estimate and remove gap(s) in the resulting media stream. The media stream may then be saved or played.

Abstract: A facility for completing a set of operations is described. Under the control of an application, the facility registers the background task to perform the set of operations. In response to the registration of the background task, the facility repeatedly invokes the background task to perform the set of operations.
