  • Publication number: 20160257874
Abstract: Methods for acidizing subterranean formations may include introducing into a wellbore penetrating the subterranean formation having a temperature of about 275° F. or greater a treatment fluid comprising an aqueous fluid, a Lewis acid catalyst and a precursor; wherein the precursor is selected from the group consisting of a saccharide, a saccharide derivative, and a combination thereof; and reacting the precursor and the Lewis acid catalyst to yield an organic acid in a portion of the subterranean formation, a portion of the wellbore, or both.

  • Publication number: 20160160610
Abstract: Methods are provided for chemically removing cured resin product from subterranean formations in case of inappropriate consolidation, plugging of screens or tubing, and equipment damage. A chemical solvent is introduced to a wellbore where a resin has cured. The resin is contacted with the chemical solvent until the resin at least partially dissolves. The dissolved resin is then removed from the wellbore. The disclosed method may also be used to remove consolidated packs consisting of cured resin and particulate materials.
