  • Publication number: 20110058767
Abstract: A reinforced sensor with an optical fiber woven into a fabric, comprising a fabric formed in a manner that a weft yarn is woven thereinto in a direction substantially perpendicular to a warp yarn, wherein an optical fiber is included in at least either one of fibers of the warp yarn and the weft yarn. The optical fiber may function as a FBG sensor.

  • Patent number: 5580642
Abstract: A reinforcing member for civil and architectural structures is made up of a mixture of reinforcing fibers and thermoplastic fibers which become thermoplastic at a temperature which is lower than a temperature at which the reinforcing fibers become thermoplastic. The thermoplastic fibers may be mixed into each bundle of the reinforcing fibers. The mixture may be formed by arranging respective fiber bundles of the reinforcing fibers and fiber bundles of the thermoplastic fibers. It may also be made by mixing the thermoplastic fibers and an electrically conductive heat-generating wiring material into the reinforcing fibers.

  • Patent number: 4770832
Abstract: A process relating to the manufacturing of a structural reinforcing material which is made of a glass fiber reinforced plastic, a carbon fiber reinforced plastic or similar material wherein a precise sectional shape is not required. A fiber body including a plurality of reinforcing fibers is impregnated with a hardenable material and subsequently introduced into a drawing die having a desired sectional shape so as to be formed into a drawn article having a predetermined sectional shape. A tape is coiled therearound so as to cover the article. A string member is coiled therearound to thrust into the surface of the article. Thereafter, the drawn fiber body is subjected to a hardening treatment and the tape and string member are removed.

  • Patent number: 4684567
Abstract: A reinforcing structural material is provided made of a plurality of fiber assembly cords interwoven into a braid, each of the cords being comprised of a plurality of fibers, and the braids being impregnated with a bonding agent for bonding together the fibers and cords. The reinforcing braid is useful for reinforcing a fibrous inorganic composite providing a product which is light in weight but excellent in strength characteristics.
