  • Patent number: 7684439
Abstract: An apparatus and method transmits data in a communication system. A buffer descriptor (BD) generator generates a BD making reference to constituent elements constituting a MAC protocol data unit (PDU), if there is a medium access control (MAC) service data unit (SDU) to be transmitted. A direct memory access (DMA) controller generates the MAC PDU from the MAC SDU according to the BD.

  • Patent number: 7450926
Abstract: An apparatus and method for controlling a sleep mode in a wireless access communication system. The apparatus determines a predetermined number of groups for grouping at least one subscriber terminal according to type information of a paging interval equal to the sum of the sleep interval and the listening interval, and registers the subscriber terminal in one group from among the groups on the basis of the paging interval type of the subscriber terminal. Upon receipt of the group information, the apparatus controls a base station to pre-recognize a terminal woken up at a predetermined time from among a plurality of terminals entering the sleep mode, resulting in reduction of the number of unnecessary paging message transmissions and improved efficiency of the wireless access communication system.

  • Patent number: 7400895
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and method for recovering a communication link between a Mobile Station (MS) and a Base Station System (BSS) in a mobile communication system when the communication link is disconnected while a communication service is in progress. When detecting the disconnection, the MS stores information of the communication link. If the MS acquires synchronization with the BSS within a predetermined time period from the detection, it resumes the communication service through the communication link. Upon the disconnection, the BSS stores resource and other information of the MS. If the BSS detects that the MS has acquired synchronization with the BSS within the predetermined time period from the disconnection, the BSS resumes the communication service through the communication link. This ensures a stable communication service in a mobile communication system that has many radio dead zones where the MS cannot normally receive services.

  • Patent number: 7260400
Abstract: A registration response (REG_RSP) message is generated which includes a type field, a length field, and an integrated CID (Connector Identifier) field. The integrated CID field includes an integrated CID inserted thereinto. The integrated CID is configured by using a new CID assigned to the subscriber terminal and an old CID assigned to the subscriber terminal by a current serving base station. The type and length fields include type information and length information of the integrated CID respectively inserted thereinto. The generated REG_RSP message is transmitted to a handover target subscriber terminal. A traffic indicator (TRF_IND) message is generated which includes at least one short BCID (Basic Connector Identifier) field into which a short BCID is inserted. The short BCID is configured by a preset number of bits among a total of bits representing a BCID of a positive subscriber terminal that must receive traffic indication information. The generated TRF_IND is then broadcast.

  • Patent number: 7130668
Abstract: A method and a system is disclosed for controlling a sleep mode in broadband wireless access communication system. The subscriber terminals are managed by grouping the subscriber terminals in a broadband wireless access communication system, so an efficiency for controlling the sleep mode of the broadband wireless access communication system may increase. A further advantage is provided that each point of time for transmitting a paging message of each group is established differently from each other within a unit time slot for controlling the sleep mode, such that subscriber terminals are managed according to groups. Another advantage is provided that the base station can previously find subscriber terminals awaking at each point of time for transmission the paging message of each other from among subscriber terminals having the sleep mode, so an efficiency for controlling the sleep mode of the broadband wireless access communication system may increase.

  • Publication number: 20050281212
Abstract: An apparatus and method for re-transmitting data in a wireless access communication system are disclosed. The data retransmission method in a wireless access communication system performing a data transmission/reception operation between a terminal and a base station using ARQ (Automatic Repeat Request) includes the step of transmitting allocation information for bandwidth for data retransmission with respect to data received by the base station and ARQ feedback information according to an error which is included in the received data from the base station to the terminal, and re-transmitting the data in which the error had occurred through the allocated bandwidth based on the allocation information of the bandwidth for the data retransmission from the terminal to the base station.

  • Publication number: 20050265390
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for transmitting and receiving MAC PDUs in a broadband wireless communication system. A transmitter generates a MAC PDU and determines if an empty area exists in the PDU. If the empty area exists, the transmitter determines if there exists a complete SDU for transmission having a size that is less than or equal to the size of the empty area. If the complete SDU exists, the transmitter adds into the PDU as a last payload piece the SDU without a subheader, and sets a GMH of the PDU to indicate that a No Overhead Last complete SDU (NOLS) exists, and transmits the PDU. A receiver analyzes a GMH of a received MAC PDU and determines if an NOLS exists in the PDU. If the NOLS exists, the receiver sequentially monitors the PSHs in the PDU to detect the last PSH, and separates an SDU corresponding to the NOLS from the PDU with reference to the last PSH.

  • Publication number: 20050201416
Abstract: An apparatus and method for separating data units from a received concatenated burst in a wireless communication system, and an apparatus and method for generating a concatenated data unit during transmission. If a reception end receives the burst, it determines if each data of the burst is a header of the data unit, such that it can separate the data unit from the burst. A transmission end designates individual starting points of data units to be equal to an integer multiple position of a predetermined size, and constructs a concatenated format of the data units, such that it generates the burst.

  • Publication number: 20050101330
Abstract: A method for planning cells in a communication system and a method for scanning the power of a neighbor base station of the same system. With no need to set a separate scanning interval for measuring the power of a neighbor base station, a subscriber terminal measures the power in a section or duration of a data frame, received from a serving base station, in which there is no data allocated to the terminal. This increases transmission efficiency of the system. The terminal can also simultaneously demodulate broadcast channel information from two different base stations whose broadcast channels are differently located. This enables the terminal to communicate simultaneously with a plurality of base stations, and communicate with the serving base station while measuring the power of the neighbor base station.

  • Publication number: 20040252035
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for inputting Chinese pinyin with tone markers, in which predetermined keys are assigned to input pinyin vowels with a tone marker. When a key is pressed to input a vowel that can have a tone marker, the predetermined keys are activated to enable a user to input a desired vowel with a tone marker. When one of the activated keys is pressed, a corresponding vowel with a tone marker is displayed at the same position of the previously inputted vowel.
