Publication number: 20050195150Abstract: In a display device, at least one of a first drive circuit that feeds source signals to first pixels to be viewed from a first viewing direction and a second drive circuit that feeds source signals to second pixels to be viewed from a second viewing direction includes a shift register that generates a sampling pulse by shifting a start pulse in synchronism with a clock signal, a sampling circuit that samples an image signal according to the sampling pulse, and a switch that controls according to a switch signal whether or not to feed the clock signal to the shift register or whether or not to feed the start pulse to the shift register. The first and second pixels are driven by the use of the output signal of the sampling circuit. With this configuration, a plurality of viewers can be presented with different images simultaneously with minimum waste of electric power.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 1, 2005Publication date: September 8, 2005Applicant: SHARP KABUSHIKI KAISHAInventors: Sunao Etoh, Kazuyoshi Imae

Patent number: 6396468Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal between a substrate having gate buslines, source buslines, switching elements, pixel electrode array, gate driver, source driver, etc., and a substrate having a counter electrode, etc. In this liquid crystal display device, the gate driver performs simultaneous two-line scanning by applying a scanning signal to two gate buslines simultaneously. The source driver feeds video signals of opposite polarities to adjacent source buslines, respectively. The video signals are inverted every vertical scanning period.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 1998Date of Patent: May 28, 2002Assignee: Sharp Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yasuhiro Matsushima, Sunao Etoh
