  • Patent number: 5209448
Abstract: The present invention relates to a flat display holding mechanism, which comprises a guide portion provided in the main body of an apparatus such as a computer and a word processor for rotatably supporting the flat display on the main body through a link and also for guiding, when the flat display is opened, the lower portion of the flat display toward the front of the main body, and a retaining mechanism provided at a portion which moves when the flat display is opened for retaining the flat display in any desired position. With such arrangement, a display portion with a larger screen can be positioned closer to the keyboard and the flat display can be retained in any desired tilted position so that an enhanced view of the screen can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 5010365
Abstract: An electrophotographic apparatus having a process cartridge for placing a photosensitive drum capable of rotating on a rotational shaft is detachably provided in a housing containing a photosensitive drum driving mechanism and having an opening formed at the top of the housing openable by a cover for detaching and attaching the process cartridge. A positioning mechanism for positioning the rotational shaft of the photosensitive drum is attached through the opening at a predetermined position and is capable of transmitting the drive of the driving mechanism. Thus, the process cartridge can be detached or attached from or to the housing elevationally with respect to the housing and the cartridge can be attached or detached while an operator stands still.

  • Patent number: 4903047
Abstract: An electrophotographic printer having a photosensitive drum disposed in a body for transferring an electrostatically adhered toner to the lower surface of a sheet, a fixing unit disposed at the downstream side of the photosensitive drum for fixing the toner transferred to the sheet, and a suction conveying mechanism disposed between the photosensitive drum and the fixing unit for conveying the sheet transferred with the toner by the photosensitive drum by sucking the sheet transferred with the toner from above comprising a retaining roller rotatably pressed in contact with the lower surface of the conveyor belt of the suction conveying mechanism. Thus, the printer can positively and stably convey a sheet of all types including an envelope toward the fixing unit when the sheet transferred with a toner image to its lower surface is conveyed while the sheet is sucked from the upper surface.

  • Patent number: 4806969
Abstract: A fixing device wherein a toner image on a paper sheet passing either of two paper paths can be fixed by means of a single heat roll. The fixing device comprises a single heat roll, a pair of pressure rolls for contacting under pressure with the heat roll, and a pair of paper passing means for individually passing a paper sheet to a pair of contact positions at which the heat roll normally contacts with the pressure rolls. By selectively passing a paper sheet having a toner image thereon to one of the contact positions with the toner image opposed to the heat roll, the toner image is fixed to the paper sheet by heat and mechanical pressure of the heat roll and the pressure rolls.

  • Patent number: 4806972
Abstract: A printer according to this invention comprises a latent image supporter having an endless belt shape and provided with separate image-forming regions, and a developing unit capable of independently supplying toners of different colors onto latent images formed on the latent image supporter. With the above arrangement, latent images for different colors are formed in the respective image-forming regions of the latent image supporter. Toners of the individual colors are then supplied to the respective latent images, thereby forming toner images of the respective colors. The toner images are transferred onto a sheet to provide an intended color mixing, and are then fixed by a fixing unit. The charges and toners remaining on the surface of the latent image supporter are removed by a static eliminator and a cleaner, respectively, so that the belt becomes ready for the next printing cycle.

  • Patent number: 4785317
Abstract: A double-side printer having a printer body including a print head disposed oppositely to a platen, a sheet conveying unit mounted in the printer body and including a sheet supplying unit for sequentially supplying sheets stacked on a sheet supply tray one by one to a printing position between the print head of the printer body and the platen, and a sheet exhausting unit for stacking and exhausting the sheet from the printing position to an exhausted sheet tray comprising belt-like latent image forming means narrower than the width of the sheet, a pair of transferring units for transferring toner image formed on the latent image forming means reversely to one another to the sheet, and an electrophotographic processing unit having a pair of sheet passages for inserting the sheet to pass the sheet through the transferring units, arranged between the sheet supplying unit and the sheet exhausting unit of the sheet conveying unit, a fixing unit disposed out of the electrostatic processing unit for fixing the toner

  • Patent number: 4768056
Abstract: A printer wherein impact printing and non-impact printing can be effected selectively as required. The printer comprises a print head of the impact type and a platen located in an opposing relationship to define a print position in a printer body. A paper transport device is mounted on the printer body and includes a paper supply section for supplying a paper sheet from a supply paper tray to the print position, and a paper discharging section for discharging a paper sheet from the print position onto a discharge paper tray. A developing unit is located between the paper supply and discharging stations and includes a latent image forming belt, and a transfer station for transferring a toner image formed on the belt to a paper sheet. A paper path for passing a paper sheet through the transfer station is formed in the developing unit. A fixing device is located outside the developing unit for fixing a toner image on a paper sheet discharged from the developing unit to a surface of the paper sheet.
