  • Patent number: 6879769
Abstract: An information preparation device, such as a personal computer, detects non-consecutive position information, such as times and dates, based on parameters (S11), such as preinputted non-consecutive point detection margins, and prepares (S12) an information table with image information for each non-consecutive position. Based on editing parameters, the device synthesizes and edits (S13) the information in the information table by date and the like. Then the device divides the information into objects, which is a data format, by data The device retrieves contents information and the like that corresponds to the divided information, and generates (S14) and outputs (S15) scenario information. The date and the like indicated by the divided regions serve as an index on buttons of menus that the user operates to easily select and display a desired images.

  • Publication number: 20050053016
Abstract: A device management system that can easily manage devices on a network existing beyond a router. In the device management system, firstly, a management device transmits a packet to a probe device beyond a router. Then, the probe device broadcasts onto a network. Then, the device on the network transmits, by return, a reply-packet to the probe device. Then, the probe device determines whether the reply-packet is one received from the device that is to be managed, and transmits to the management device only the reply packet received from the device that is to be managed.

  • Publication number: 20040239992
Abstract: A server acquires the total number of pages printed per hour and the number of pages printed per hour by each user on each printer in a network printing system in order to find printers whose hourly number of printed pages exceeds a load limit. The server also looks for printers having few printed pages per hour that do not exceed the load limit and issues a notification advising the user who is printing the largest volume on a printer exceeding the load limit to switch to a printer that prints few pages. Accordingly, a high concentration of printing found on a few printers can be moderated, reducing user wait time and excessive printer load.

  • Patent number: 6778759
Abstract: A method of making an information recording medium of the invention is that first a scenario template is generated based on an input scenario information and assignments of titles, chapters, programs, and cells are determined. Based on this assignments, a disk information file and video file management information are generated on a hard disk and a recording area of a video file data is allocated. At this time, in the disk information file and the video file management information, management information as to menu information corresponding to the scenario template and recording area of cells to be recorded in the video file data. Therefore, the efficiency of making a multimedia optical disc, such as a DVD, which records still picture data, moving picture data, or audio data such as voice, as a content, can be increased.

  • Publication number: 20040107279
Abstract: In a network system, the function of an electronic device is shared by a plurality of terminal device, which are communicatively connected through a network. Operational parameters of the electronic device can be set by users of the plurality of terminal devices through the network. The network system includes a monitoring time determining system that determines a monitoring time with respect operational parameters set by a first user, a monitoring system that monitors whether a request for modification of the operational parameters issued by a second user is received during the monitoring period, and a modification control system that modifies the operational parameters in accordance with the request for modification if the monitoring system determines that the request for the modification is received after expiration of the monitoring period, the modification control system executes a predetermined operation if the request for modification is received during the monitoring period.

  • Patent number: 6731862
Abstract: A video image edit device for editing video image contents recorded on a video tape. The video tape is rewound to its leading end and a start point time code and a maximum video image content period are stored in a RAM. Then, a video reproduction is started and a time code and time information for a video image content are retrieved. A difference between the present time and a precedent time is compared with a predetermined period to detect discontinuity of the video image content. If discontinuity cannot be detected, judgment is made as to whether or not a difference between the present time code and a start point time code exceeds the maximum video image content period to determine a subdivision point. If discontinuity is detected, or if the difference exceeds the maximum video image content period, a present end point time code and next start point time code are stored for again detecting the discontinuity or judging the next subdivision point.

  • Patent number: 6721495
Abstract: An information generating apparatus of the invention generates disk information by a playback control information generating device based on scenario information input by a scenario information input device and stores the disk information on a storage device. The information generating apparatus also generates video file management information based on information that is found from the scenario information and stores the video file management information on the storage device. On the other hand, video or audio data that are input by a video data input device or an audio data input device are encoded by a video data encoding device or an audio data encoding device and are multiplexed by a multiplexing device. By doing so, a system stream is generated and stored on the storage device. Every one system stream is generated, the rest of the video file management information is generated and stored on the storage device.

  • Patent number: 6092035
Abstract: A multilingual transmission system includes a server device and a client device. The server device analyzes the meaning and grammatical significance of a source text in a natural language. When vagueness exists in the source text, the server device displays different candidates corresponding to different interpretations of the vague source text, so that the user can select which interpretation is correct. The server device produces pivot language data accordingly and stores it. When the client device requests text data, the server device retrieves pivot language data corresponding to the requested text data. Based on the retrieved pivot language data, the server device generates target language text data in the language requested by the client device and transmits the generated target language text data to the client device.
