  • Publication number: 20020083417
Abstract: In a method of designing a product with the aid of a computer, design-related requirement information is registered and stored in a server as an electronic file created in a predetermined format, and design specifications of the product is also stored in the server. The server automatically retrieves requirement information relating to the design specifications, from the design-related requirement information stored in the server, and the content of the automatically retrieved requirement information is presented to a designer via the server. The designer then creates detailed design information based on the design specifications, while checking the content of the requirement information presented.

  • Patent number: 6179372
Abstract: A front portion structure of an automobile vehicle body having front side members disposed in right and left side portions of a vehicle body and extending in the longitudinal direction and an instrument panel reinforcement disposed between right and left front pillars and extending in the lateral direction. Pillar braces are connected to the front side members in the right and left side portions and the instrument panel reinforcement.

  • Patent number: 6131685
Abstract: A power train supporting apparatus in an engine compartment of a vehicle has a ladder-like sub-frame located under the power train. Right and left sub-side members constituting the sub-frame each contain a curved portion, which facilitates bending thereof. A first engine mount and a second engine mount for bearing the weight of the power train are attached to these curved portions. A third engine mount for supporting the power train at the top is connected to a side frame member. The third engine mount releases the power train when a load exceeding a predetermined value is applied vertically to the power train. During a collision of the vehicle with an obstacle, the power train is released by the top engine mount when subjected to the impact and shifts downward to a space under the engine compartment. With an empty engine compartment, bending of the sub-side members is permitted, and thus the power train is prevented from interfering with these members.

  • Patent number: 5992555
Abstract: An apparatus for supporting a power train in a vehicle body having a monocoque structure that includes a bumper reinforcer, which is arranged in front of a passenger compartment, side members, and a toe board. The supporting apparatus is provided with first and second push rods, and a torque rod for supporting the power train. The first and second push rods are connected to the bumper reinforcer and support the front side of the power train. During a head-on collision, the first and second push rods cause the power train to be displaced toward the passenger compartment in a downwardly inclined direction. In the same manner, the torque rod is connected to the toe board and supports the rear side of the power train. During the head-on collision, the torque rod also causes the power train to be displaced toward the passenger compartment in a downwardly inclined direction.

  • Patent number: 5318329
Abstract: A flexible joint has a bellows, a first support cover connected with one end of the bellows, a second support cover connected with another end of the bellows, a pin fixed to the first support cover, a cap fixed to the second support cover, and a buffer member constructed of wire mesh and disposed between the first support cover in combination with the pin and the second support cover in combination with the cap. The buffer member includes two portions different in modulus of elasticity. Due to the structure, gap generation between the first support cover combined with the pin and the second support cover combined with the cap is prevented.
