  • Publication number: 20230122569
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices include techniques for improving network resource usage for a multi-universal subscriber identity module (MUSIM) device in a multi-network environment. A wireless device can send to a network function of a network (e.g., an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) or a Mobility Management Entity (MME) an indication that the wireless device is a MUSIM device. The indication can be included in a UE capability information message of an attach procedure and/or a UE assistance information message of a UE assistance information capability procedure, as defined by 3GPP standards. Upon sending the indication, the wireless device can receive a response message indicating that the network supports various MUSIM features of the MUSIM device. The wireless device can receive a paging offset request from the network function. Accordingly, the wireless device can change a device parameter associated with the network (e.g., a paging offset value).

  • Publication number: 20230108625
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure are directed towards systems and techniques for protocol data unit (PDU) session establishment. One example method generally includes sending, by a wireless device, a first PDU session establishment request to a first network, wherein the first PDU session establishment request is sent via an access network. The method may also include sending, by the wireless device, a second PDU session establishment request to a second network via the access network, receiving, via the access network, a first acknowledgement corresponding to the first PDU session establishment request, and receiving, via the access network, a second acknowledgement corresponding to the second PDU session establishment request.

  • Publication number: 20230078760
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices include techniques for establishing an enhanced multi-access protocol data unit (PDU) session in a multi-network environment. Various registration procedures may be used to allocate resources between a first network (e.g., a Mobile Network Operator (MNO) and a second network (e.g., a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO). For instance, a method includes sending by a wireless device to a network, indication(s) related to network capabilities of the wireless device. The indication(s) include whether the wireless device supports a multi-access PDU session comprising a first PDU session and a second PDU session. The first PDU session is established via a 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) access the second PDU session is established via a first non-3GPP. The indication(s) include whether the wireless device supports an enhanced multi-access PDU session comprising a third PDU session, wherein the third PDU session is established via a second non-3GPP access.

  • Patent number: 9794804
Abstract: Exemplary apparatuses and methods are provided that address how to optimize automatic neighbor relations. Specifically, a base station receives measurements from a mobile terminal connected thereto. The base station determines neighbor relations from the received measurements that includes identifiers of other base stations in neighboring cells detected by the mobile terminal. The base station determines a number of communication links needed to exchange data with the other base stations. The base station prioritizes the neighbor relations from a lowest priority level to a highest priority level before a maximum number of communication links needed to exchange data is exceeded. The base station may delete neighbor relations with the lowest priority level from the base station's Neighbor Relation Table so that the base station can support new neighbor relations, more efficient hand-offs, and improve network performance.

  • Patent number: 9585153
Abstract: Various methods and devices are provided to address the need for improved carrier aggregation access control. In one method, an network node determines (301) that a call involving a UE is eligible for carrier aggregation and sends (302) a request for capability information concerning the UE to an MME. The network node then receives (303) from the MME capability information concerning the UE in response to the request. When the capability information indicates that the UE is not provisioned for carrier aggregation, the network node denies (304) carrier aggregation support for the call involving the UE.

  • Publication number: 20140274055
Abstract: A method for optimizing a cellular network neighbor cell list (NCL) includes collecting performance measurement (PM) data relating to the performance of the cellular network; based on the processed and analyzed PM data, generating a proposal for optimization of the NCL; computing an SIB11 message consistent with the optimization proposal; checking the SIB11 message to ensure it can be encoded; and assuming the SIB11 message cannot be encoded, reverting to the generating step and generating a new proposal for optimization of the NCL, so as to optimize the NCL.
