  • Patent number: 11716590
Abstract: A computer may receive connection information associated with one or more communication devices in a network, where the connection information specifies dynamic associations or connections between electronic devices and the one or more communication devices in an environment as a function of time. Then, the computer may store system information that includes: first identifiers of the one or more communication devices, second identifiers of the electronic devices, and timestamps, where a portion of the system information specifies a duration of a dynamic association or connection between a given electronic device and a given communication device. Moreover, the computer may receive occurrence information that indicates an occurrence of an event. In response, the computer may determine, based at least in part on the system information, one or more regions in the environment where an electronic device was present during a time interval, and the computer may accordingly perform a remedial action.

  • Patent number: 11711752
Abstract: An electronic device may advertise a first BSSID and a second BSSID having a common SSID, separate wireless connection interfaces, and different capabilities, where the first BSSID may support a first IEEE 802.11 standard, and the second BSSID may support one or more previous IEEE 802.11 standards, but may not support the first IEEE 802.11 standard. Then, the electronic device may receive a probe request associated with a second electronic device. Moreover, the electronic device may determine whether the second electronic device supports the first IEEE 802.11 standard based at least in part on one or more fields in the probe request. Next, the electronic device may selectively provide a probe response to the second electronic device with one of the first BSSID and the second BSSID based at least in part on the determination.

  • Publication number: 20220110016
Abstract: An electronic device (such as an access point) is described. This electronic device includes an interface circuit that wirelessly communicates with a second electronic device (such as another access point or a client or station that is associated with the access point), where the interface circuit is compatible with an existing IEEE 802.11 standard having a predefined maximum bandwidth or a corresponding predefined maximum sampling rate. During operation, the interface circuit may communicate with the second electronic device using a bandwidth or a corresponding sampling rate that exceeds the predefined maximum bandwidth or the predefined maximum sampling rate, where the bandwidth or the sampling rate is used in a physical layer and a media access control (MAC) layer of the interface circuit, and where a filter bandwidth of a filter in the interface circuit (such as an analog filter) is modified to accommodate the bandwidth or the sampling rate.

  • Publication number: 20180352499
Abstract: A communication technique for conveying configuration information in a preamble in a frame is described. In this communication technique, an access point may receive a frame from a transmitting electronic device in a wireless local area network (WLAN) with media-access-control (MAC) information in a preamble and at least a packet as a payload. The MAC information may be communicated from a MAC layer to a physical layer in an interface circuit in the access point. Moreover, the MAC information may include an identifier of the receiving electronic device. Based on the identifier, the access point may select a receive antenna pattern for use when receiving the payload.

  • Patent number: 8565112
Abstract: A method and device for concurrently transmitting a Wi-Fi signal and a Bluetooth signal via a common power amplifier and antenna. A first set of values indicative of transmission power levels of a Wi-Fi signal and a corresponding set of values indicative of transmission power levels of a BT signal are stored in a table. Information about activities pertaining to the BT signal including a value of a transmission power level of the BT signal is received. Based on the received value of the transmission power level of the BT signal, a corresponding value of a transmission power level of the Wi-Fi signal may be looked up from the table. Transmission of one or more of the Wi-Fi or BT signals may be controlled, based on at least one of the received information or the looked-up value of the transmission power level of the Wi-Fi signal.

  • Patent number: 7541952
Abstract: A method for determining a gain compensation value for multiple ADCs sums an absolute value of a number of ADC output samples from each of the ADCs that may be collected while the ADCs are in normal operation. In one embodiment, the ratio of the sums of the absolute values of ADC output samples may reflect the difference in gains between the ADCs, and may be used to determine the ADC gain compensation value. A method for determining an offset compensation value between for multiple ADCs averages of a number of ADC output samples from each ADC collected while the ADCs are in normal operation. In one embodiment, a difference between the ADC sample averages may reflect the difference in magnitudes of the ADC offsets for each ADC, and may be used to determine the ADC offset compensation value.
