Publication number: 20240104043Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to a module which can be inserted into or removed from a computing device by a user. The module includes an input-output port which is configured for a desired specification, such as USB-A, USB-C, Thunderbolt, DisplayPort or HDMI. The port can be provided on an expansion card such as an M.2 card for communicating with a host platform. The host platform can communicate with different types of modules in a standardized way so that complexity and costs are reduced. In another aspect, with a dual port module, the host platform can concurrently send/receive power through one port and send/receive data from the other port.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 22, 2022Publication date: March 28, 2024Inventors: Shailendra Singh Chauhan, Nirmala Bailur, Reza M. Publication number: 20230280809Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to a computer which operates in a normal power mode, a full low power mode and a modified low power mode. A power supply unit (PSU) includes main power rails and a standby power rail. An intelligent decision is made as to when to turn on and off the main power rails based on the needs of connected devices such as USB Type-C devices. Power Delivery controllers communicate with the USB devices to determine their power consumption needs, and the total power consumption is aggregated at an embedded controller. If the total exceeds an available power budget, the PSU is controlled to allow for a modified low power mode in which full power is maintained at the main power rails while non-essential internal components are turned off.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 1, 2022Publication date: September 7, 2023Inventors: Venkataramani GOPALAKRISHNAN, Chuen Ming TAN, Charuhasini SUNDER RAMAN, Philip R. Patent number: 11422681Abstract: Non-limiting examples of the present disclosure describe an application command control user interface menu to facilitate user interaction between a user and a mobile application. An application command control menu is displayed on a display screen of a processing device. An input may be received into an application canvas of a launched application. The application canvas may be positioned above the application command control menu on the display screen. In response to a received input into the application canvas, a soft input keyboard application may be displayed. The soft input keyboard application may display below the application command control menu on the display screen. A selection may be received in the application command control menu. In response to the received selection, display of the application command control menu may be expanded to replace display on the soft input keyboard application on the display screen. Other examples are also described.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2015Date of Patent: August 23, 2022Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Vlad Riscutia, Julie Seto, Maya Rodrig, Matthew Vogel, Ramy Bebawy, Sunder Raman, Edward Augustus Layne, Jr., Jon Bell, Choon-Mun Hooi, Kimberly Koenig

Patent number: 10949075Abstract: Examples of the present disclosure describe application command control for small screen display. When detecting a display width associated with a processing device is equal to or less than a threshold value, the processing device launches an application command control programmed for display on small screens. The application command control interfaces with an application and comprises a plurality of top-level palettes and a plurality of drill-in palettes programmed for the application. A top-level palette for the application is vertically scrollable and comprises a collection of rows comprising one or more selectable command elements. A row of the one or more command elements of the top-level palette comprises a drill-in feature that when selected presents a drill-in palette. A drill-in palette is vertically scrollable and comprises one or more rows of selectable command elements.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2015Date of Patent: March 16, 2021Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Julie Seto, Maya Rodrig, Jon Bell, Darron Stepanich, Erez Kikin Gil, Derek Snook, Hongrui Zhang, Han-Yi Shaw, Matthew Vogel, Ramy Bebawy, Sunder Raman, Choon-mun Hooi, Vlad Riscutia

Patent number: 9942306Abstract: Technologies related to decentralized cloud workflows are generally described. In some examples, client applications may generate workflow packages. The workflow packages may be used to access multiple network services, such that client applications need not communicate with intermediate network services in a network service workflow. A client application may send a workflow package to a first network service in the network service workflow. The first network service may process instructions in the workflow package, store transaction results, and forward the workflow package to a next network service. Each intermediate network service may similarly process instructions, store transaction results, and forward the workflow package. Ultimately a last network service in the network service workflow may send workflow completion information to the client application.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2015Date of Patent: April 10, 2018Assignee: EMPIRE TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT LLCInventors: Saurabh Chandra, Venkat Sunder Raman Rangasamudram Komaleeswaran
