The display apparatus includes: a receiver which receives content data; a storage which stores frame size information corresponding to a content type; a detector which detects the content type of the content data; a video processor which forms a content frame having a frame size corresponding to the detected content type by using the frame size information stored in the storage; and a display which displays the content frame formed by the video processor.

Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and method thereof for displaying video signals on a display screen of a display apparatus, wherein the video signals are received by the display apparatus from a plurality of input sources. The method includes: determining whether a medium input from a first input source of the display apparatus is in a loading process; if the medium is in the loading process, displaying in a sub-window on the display screen a video signal output from the first input source of the display apparatus; if the medium is in the loading process, displaying in a main window on the display screen a video signal output from a second input source of the display apparatus. The video signal from the first input source may be downscaled and transmitted to the display device so as to conserve resources in both the first input source and the display device.

Abstract: A 3D image playing apparatus is provided. The 3D image playing apparatus includes a plurality of speakers which output a plurality of test sounds, a receiver which receives the test sounds output from the plurality of speakers, a location detector which detects a location of the receiver by receiving feedback of the test sounds received at the receiver and analyzing the test sounds, a 3D processor which adjusts a 3D effect of a 3D image according to the location detected by the location detector, and a display unit which outputs the 3D image having the 3D effect adjusted by the 3D processor.

Abstract: A source device that provides contents to a sink device and a communication method thereof are provided. The communication method of the source device includes: transmitting a communication signal including a High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) signal to the sink device; determining a communication status with the sink device using an HDCP communication result received from the sink device; and adjusting the communication signal according to the determined communication status. Therefore, the communication method can provide a user with optimized contents.

Abstract: A digital interface system to display an inappropriate connection state of a digital interface (High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) in an HDMI connection supporting an Ethernet function and a cable connection state displaying method therefore. When a user intends to use the Ethernet function by connecting the HDMI cable, the inappropriate connection of the HDMI cable is displayed on a screen by a message or a diagram. Also, in case of a plurality of connected HDMI cables, the position of an inappropriate HDMI cable is indicated on the screen. Even though it is difficult to distinguish a general HDMI cable from an HDMI with HDMI Ethernet and Audio Return Channel (HEAC) cable, an inappropriate HDMI cable connection is accurately identified.

Abstract: A method for encrypting content includes using a plurality of different encryption schemes to produce encrypted content. Encryption information is provided so as to indicate which of the plurality of different encryption schemes is used on portions of the content that was encrypted. Encryption information and the encrypted content are both sent as a content stream to another device. The decryption involves using the encryption information to help control the decryption so that the correct one of a plurality of different decryption schemes is applied to the proper portions of the encrypted content.

Abstract: A signal output device of an HDMI device and a method thereof, which can automatically determine a type of an HDMI cable such that a display device such as a television set can always display an optimal screen. The signal output method of a digital interface device to output a signal of a device connected to a digital interface cable includes determining the type of the digital interface cable, and comparing a resolution which can be supported by the digital interface cable with an output resolution of the device which is set and outputting whether the digital interface cable can support the output resolution.

Abstract: A signal transmission method, a signal transmission apparatus, and a signal transmission system are provided. The signal transmission method includes transmitting a test signal via at least one of a plurality of lines included in a channel; receiving transmission state information indicating a state of the transmission of the test signal; and determining whether to change a number of lines to be used for transmitting a main signal based on the transmission state information.

Abstract: A method for adjusting an image quality of a 3-dimension (3D) image, a 3D display apparatus, 3D glasses, and a system for providing a 3D image are provided. Attribute information of the 3D glasses is acquired from the 3D glasses to adjust an image quality of a displayed 3D image according to the attribute information of the 3D glasses. Therefore, if a viewer views a 3D image through a glasses type 3D display apparatus, brightness of the 3D image is prevented from being darker by 3D glasses or a color hue of the 3D image is prevented from being degraded by the 3D glasses. Accordingly, the viewer views the 3D image with an optimal image quality.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are a content reproducing apparatus to display a content image and a menu image on a display device, and a control method thereof. The menu image is generated based on a support capability of the display device. Therefore, when the content image and the menu image are alternately displayed, screen flickering may be prevented from occurring due to a change in image format. Also, a support capability of each constituent element may be notified to the user as guide information, and the content image may be output after user confirmation.

Abstract: An image display system and a display method thereof are provided. The image display system includes an optical disc having image information thereon, an image display device having extended display identification data (EDID), and a reproduction device to analyze the EDID to determine an interface to connect with the image display device, if the image information is three-dimensional (3D) image information, and instruct the image display device to output an alarm text, if the interface is an analog. When the interface is an analog interface, the reproduction device may output an analog two-dimensional (2D) image or 3D image through the image display device. Even when the image display device and the reproduction device are interconnected via an analog interfaces, a 2D or 3D image may be output based on the 3D image information.

Abstract: A method of converting an output picture, useable by a digital versatile disk (DVD) player connected to a digital television via a communication cable includes receiving output picture conversion information after data communication with the digital television commences; transmitting predetermined image picture information to the digital television while an output image of the DVD reproducing signal is being converted in response to the output picture conversion information; and interrupting the transmission of the picture information and transmitting the converted output picture to the digital television when the conversion of the output picture is completed. The abnormal picture generated while the resolution or the aspect ratio of the output image is being converted is blocked, and a predetermined picture is output to prevent viewing the abnormal picture.

Abstract: A system and method for displaying a warning message are disclosed. The system for displaying the warning message includes a display device for displaying digital image signal, and a host apparatus for providing the digital image signal and determining whether the display device supports a prescribed encryption standard adopted by the host apparatus, wherein when it is determined that the display device does not support the encryption standard, the host apparatus causes the encryption standard non-support warning message associated with the display device to be displayed on the display device. It is possible to easily see when the display device supports the encryption standard adopted by the host apparatus.
