  • Publication number: 20160316489
Abstract: A channel scan method includes: configuring a receiving circuit to perform a single signal reception of a first bandwidth to generate a signal reception result; and performing channel scan upon the signal reception result to detect a channel status of each channel having a second bandwidth smaller than the first bandwidth. In addition, a channel scan device has a receiving circuit, a control circuit, and a scan circuit. The control circuit controls the receiving circuit to perform a single signal reception of a first bandwidth to generate a signal reception result. The scan circuit performs channel scan upon the signal reception result to detect a channel status of each channel having a second bandwidth smaller than the first bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 9277488
Abstract: In order to obtain information related to operating channels of access points, the method receives lightweight beacons on a common channel. The method generates a channel scanning list in accordance with the content of the lightweight beacons and sequentially scans all the channels on the list. The method is capable of reducing the scanning time and the data loss rate during the scanning operation.

  • Patent number: 9094776
Abstract: A method for progressively scanning channels first checks whether all channel scanning tasks are completed so as to determine a channel that will be scanned first. During the scanning process, the method records a channel as a last scanned channel after completing a channel scanning task for the channel. In addition, the method scans a channel with a valid service set identifier to increase the possibility of detecting hidden access points.

  • Patent number: 8717984
Abstract: A method for determining a channel status between a first station and a second station in a wireless local area network system includes the first station receiving a beacon from an access point. The first station broadcasts a packet carrying the beacon. The packet provides a basis for the second station to determine the channel status between the first station and the second station.

  • Patent number: 8379555
Abstract: A method of awaking a communication device operating in a sleep mode for a wireless network interface card includes continuously sending a plurality of coupling packets to maintain coupling between the communication device and a remote communication device, receiving a wireless packet from the remote communication device, determining a packet type of the wireless packet according to a packet format corresponding to a wake-up packet, and controlling the communication device to leave the sleep mode when the wireless packet is determined to be the wake-up packet.

  • Patent number: 8270380
Abstract: The method generates a candidate list in accordance with the contents of frames transmitted by access points and sequentially performs the handshaking operations with the access points on the candidate list to select a personal identification number (PIN) enabled access point. During the candidate list generating process, this method places Wi-Fi protected setup (WPS) PIN-enabled access points at high priority positions but eliminates non-WPS access points and WPS push button configuration enabled access points.

  • Patent number: 8239672
Abstract: A method for a access point device having first network identity information to automatically establish a security link with a peer access point device in a wireless communication system includes searching and receiving a beacon corresponding to the peer access point device by radio frequency scan, obtaining second network identity information corresponding to the peer access point device from the beacon, determining a primary-secondary relationship for the access point device and the peer access point device according to the first and second network identity information, generating or receiving security data according to the primary-secondary relationship, and then establishing the security link with the peer access point device according to the security data.

  • Patent number: 8228807
Abstract: Instead of scanning all the channels at once, the present method separates a channel scanning procedure into multiple channel scanning operations. The method reduces a data loss rate during the operation by returning to the operating channel an associated access point operates on in accordance with a return period for transceiving blocked packets.
