Publication number: 20240050013Abstract: Embodiments are directed to devices, systems and methods for determining a perspiration metric of a user. In some embodiments, a device may include a perspiration sensor having first and second electrodes positioned on a skin-facing exterior surface of the device. Capacitance circuitry may measure a capacitance between the electrodes, which may be used to calculate the perspiration metric. In some embodiments, the device defines a cavity such that one or both of the electrodes extend at least partially into the cavity. Other embodiments include a second perspiration sensor, and measurements from the second perspiration sensor may be used in calculating the perspiration metric.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 16, 2022Publication date: February 15, 2024Inventors: Sung H. Publication number: 20230252407Abstract: Methods and systems for managing inventory at a retail facility include an image capture device having a field of view that includes a product display shelf of the retail facility, an electronic database that stores a planogram of product display shelves at the retail facility and a computing device. The computing device obtains an image of a product display shelf, detects the individual packages of each of the different products captured in the image, defines different product display areas for the different products on the product display shelf captured in the image, and generates virtual boundary lines that surround each of the defined product display areas. The computing device also determines an identity of a product contained located in each defined product display area, and associates the virtual boundary lines surrounding each defined product display area with an identifier unique to the product contained in the defined product display area.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 16, 2021Publication date: August 10, 2023Inventors: Sung H. Publication number: 20230177458Abstract: Methods and systems for managing inventory at a retail facility include an image capture device having a field of view that includes a product display shelf of the retail facility, an electronic database that stores defined product display areas and assigned unique identifiers of the products on the product display shelves, and a computing device. The computing device obtains an image of a product display shelf, detects the individual packages of the different products captured in the image, identifies the products associated with the packages detected in the image by utilizing reference information stored in the database, determines whether one or more of the products on the product display shelf is associated with an out of stock event, and transmits an out of stock alert to an electronic device of a worker at the retail facility, notifying the worker to replenish the depleted products on the product display shelf.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 14, 2021Publication date: June 8, 2023Inventors: Sung H. Kim, Asim S. Alvi, Jody P. Cook, Kshitiz Gupta, Christopher R. Jescheling, Rahul S. Kala, Britto J. Michaelsamy, Maxwell A. Yardley, Matthew A. Jones, Kumar Chandan, Jadran Sirotkovic, Mirko A. Publication number: 20230008084Abstract: Doors on a vehicle may be controlled by a door positioning system that moves the doors freely and fluidly relative to the body of the vehicle. The doors may include front and rear doors on each side of the vehicle. The door positioning system may control the movement and positioning of each door using a door mechanism coupled between the door and the body of the vehicle. The door positioning system may determine a position or path of motion for each door based on sensor data and user input. The door positioning system may issue corresponding control signals to actuators in the door mechanism to position the door accordingly. For example, the front door may slide open at an angle to accommodate an angled tire. Front and rear doors may open in opposite directions to create a large, unobstructed space for passengers to enter and exit the vehicle.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 19, 2022Publication date: January 12, 2023Inventors: Matthew L. Brown, Phillip Michael Hobson, John Raff, Sung H. Kim, Russell C. Mead, JR., Ronald J. Smith

Patent number: 9207724Abstract: Quick release couplings for releasably coupling components to the computer are disclosed. The quick release coupling mechanisms are generally configured to allow tool-less placement of the components relative to the computer. That is, the quick release coupling mechanisms are configured to perform their couplings without using conventional fasteners such as screws, bolts, etc. By eliminating use of fasteners, the components may be inserted and removed from the computer without using tools (e.g., tool-less). Furthermore, the quick release couplings are easy to maneuver thereby enabling quick and straightforward assembly and disassembly of the components to and from the computer (e.g., quick release). For example, the components may be inserted and removed by a simple pushing or pulling motion, and/or by a simple flick of a latch or handle.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2013Date of Patent: December 8, 2015Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Daniel J. Patent number: 8751507Abstract: A recommendations system is provided in various embodiments for selecting items to recommend to a user. The system includes a recommendation engine with a plurality of recommenders, and each recommender identifies a different type of reason for recommending items. In one embodiment, each recommender retrieves item preference data and generates candidate recommendations responsive to a subset of that data. The recommenders also score the candidate recommendations. In certain embodiments, a normalization engine normalizes the scores of the candidate recommendations provided by each recommender. A candidate selector selects at least a portion of the candidate recommendations based on the normalized scores to provide as recommendations to the user. The candidate selector also outputs the recommendations with associated reasons for recommending the items.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2007Date of Patent: June 10, 2014Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Sung H.
