  • Patent number: 11958095
Abstract: According to an aspect of the disclosure, there may be provided a peening apparatus for generating a compressive residual stress on a pipe member including at least one curved round portion and having a hollow inside formed therein in which a first fluid and a second fluid, which is in a gas phase, are accommodated, the apparatus including: a probe which is disposed such that it is submerged in the first fluid supplied to the hollow inside, and which is configured to apply a wave to the first fluid, wherein the first fluid and the second fluid have different acoustic impedances, so that the wave is totally reflected on a reflection surface where the first fluid and the second fluid are in contact, and forms a standing wave, and wherein a cavity generated and grown by the formed standing wave is exploded and emits a shock wave or microjet, which generates a compressive residual stress on the inner surface of the pipe member surrounding the hollow inside.

  • Patent number: 10906669
Abstract: There is provided a crack repairing method for suppressing a crack growth in a wall portion. The crack repairing method includes an injection step in which working fluid is injected into a crack formed into a surface of the wall portion of a target object and a vibration step in which vibration is applied to the working fluid in a direction from an crack initiation portion of the crack on the surface to an inner end portion of the crack. The crack repairing method further includes a deformation step in which a cavity is generated in the working fluid by the applied vibration and compressive residual stress is generated at the inner end portion of the crack.

  • Patent number: 6563249
Abstract: A rotary microactuator having optimally curved electrodes is provided. The rotary microactuator is optimally designed so that the interval between two electrodes, which are a rotor and a stator, is constant regardless of a distance from the central axis of the rotor. Thus, a parallel-plate configuration can generate a maximum driving force, and also can widen a driving range. In particular, in a rotary microactuator using parallel-plate configuration electrodes, the electrodes are optimally designed so that the interval between the electrodes remains constant regardless the radius by tilting the electrodes or by zigzagging the electrodes. Therefore, a driving force per a given area can be maximized.
