    Abstract: A method of estimating a mass of a vehicle. If a yaw rate is smaller than a reference value, a straight direction model algorithm is applied to obtain an estimated mass. If a measured speed and a measured steering angle are larger than reference values, a lateral direction model algorithm is applied to obtain another estimated mass. If a measured vertical acceleration is larger than a reference value, a vertical direction model algorithm is applied to obtain yet another estimated mass. If each of the estimated masses is in an allowable range, and is constant for a given time period, the masses are applied to a recursive least square method, thereby estimating the mass of the vehicle.

The edge pixels of a black character may be evaluated to improve visibility of edge pixels and to enhance the blackening of the edge pixels when the evaluated edge pixels are determined to be the actual edge pixels of the original image and to correct the edge pixels to be suitable for original background pixel values and to brighten the edge pixels when the evaluated edge pixels are determined to be the actual background pixels of an original image. The black character may be enhanced so that the actual black character becomes blacker and that the background pixels become brighter to improve the visibility of the black character. The black character may be distinguished from a scanned image, the print thickness of the distinguished black character may be controlled, and the black character having controlled print thickness may be printed out using only a K color.

Thus, when the user wants to copy the printed document, the information of the image processing parameters used for printing the document is optimized suitable for the copy by detecting the watermark inserted into the printed document, thereby improving the quality of the copy. The method includes inserting first information of image processing parameters, which are used to print the document, into the document when printing the document, and optimizing second information of image processing parameters to be used for copying the document using the first information of image processing parameters inserted into the document when copying the document.
