  • Publication number: 20120296679
Abstract: A system for synchronizing and integrating the reservation data, order data, and e-commerce data, gift card data, and/or loyalty points data residing in a POS device with that of a merchant's website and synchronizing data residing in a website database to the POS device is disclosed. The system includes a POS device to host a POS application, the POS application having a POS database layer, and a web server to host a website application, the website application including a website database layer. The web server hosts a publically accessible website and the website application processes data inputs in the website into the website database layer, and the POS application communicates with the website application to harmonize the website database layer and the POS database layer via Internet protocols. The system can be used to integrate a restaurant or other merchant's POS reservation, ordering, and e-commerce systems with those provided via the website.

  • Publication number: 20120290368
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for operating a gift card network are disclosed. The system receives registration data from first and second merchants, each having one or more points of sale, and processes the registration data to establish membership of the merchants in a gift card network. The system then receives card issuance data from the first merchant, the card issuance data reflecting at least a unique serial number and a monetary value associated with a network gift card issued by the first merchant. The network gift card is redeemable at the first merchant or at other merchants which have established membership in the gift card network. When a transaction occurs in which the card issued by the first merchant is used at the second merchant, transaction data is received from the second merchant, the transaction data indicating that at least a portion of the monetary value of the network gift card has been redeemed at the second merchant.

  • Publication number: 20080040248
Abstract: A method and apparatus for facilitating a business transaction wherein a merchant/operator is presented with transaction-related information in the operator's preferred language and currency, wherein the customer is presented with transaction-related information in the customer's preferred language and currency, and wherein the customer's language and currency are different from the operator's language and currency. This allows persons who speak different languages and who are used to conducting transactions in different currencies to readily engage in business transactions. The method and apparatus can be employed, for example, in a credit card or debit card terminal, thereby allowing a merchant to easily accommodate tourists from foreign countries.

  • Publication number: 20070150103
Abstract: A positioning device and method using two transmirrors for positioning a moving robot which moves in an indoor environment is provided. The positioning device includes a transmitter transmitting signals to first and second transmirrors; a receiver receiving signals from the first and second transmirrors; and a positioning unit determining the position of the moving robot based on time intervals between time points when signals are transmitted to the first and second transmirrors and time points when signals are received from the first and second transmirrors. Accordingly, the number of transmirrors can be reduced, and synchronization between the moving robot and the transmirrors is not needed, so that it is possible to easily implement the positioning with lower cost.

  • Publication number: 20070017971
Abstract: A method and apparatus for a credit card and debit card transaction terminal including a processor, a display and a memory. A card reader is configured to read data stored on a portable memory medium. An operator interface is produced by an operator interface program and executable by the processor. The operator interface being displayable on the display in an operator language. A customer interface is produced by a customer interface program and executable by the processor. The customer interface being displayable in a customer language. A language identification module is stored in the memory and executable on the processor. The language identification module is configured to select the operator language and to select a customer language in which displayable for the operator and customer, respectively. The operator and customer languages are selected from a plurality of languages stored in the module. The operator and customer languages are different.

  • Publication number: 20060269463
Abstract: Provided is a method for manufacturing a metal oxide hollow nanoparticles with excellent properties more easily and simply by a chemical vapor condensation employing metal ?-diketonates as precursors, and a metal oxide hollow nanoparticles manufactured by the method. The method includes: preparing metal ?-diketonate as a precursor; evaporating the metal ?-diketonate at a predetermined temperature higher than a melting point of the metal ?-diketonate; transferring the evaporated metal ?-diketonate into a reaction region; thermally decomposing the transferred gaseous metal ?-diketonate and simultaneously inducing a reaction of the transferred gaseous metal ?-diketonate with oxygen to synthesize the metal oxide hollow nanoparticle; and condensing and collecting the synthesized metal oxide hollow nanoparticles.

  • Publication number: 20050140284
Abstract: An organic electro-luminescence (EL) device includes a first electrode formed on a substrate and a second electrode formed to overlap with the first electrode. An organic EL layer is located between the first and second electrodes. A dielectric layer is formed between the second electrode and the EL layer. The dielectric layer contains antioxidative material, formed by a mixture of approximately 50˜75% of an organic material and approximately 25˜50% of an metallic powder. The organic electro-luminescence device demonstrates an increased picture quality and increased luminous efficiency.
