Abstract: Disclosed are a display apparatus having an integrated input port unit to which an external port device provided with a plurality of input ports for a plurality of connectors is connectable, and a control method thereof. The display apparatus includes; an integrated input port unit which receives a video signal output through a selected input port of the external port device; and a controller which controls the external port device to output the video signal received through the selected input port if the external port device is connected to the integrated input port unit, and at least one connector of at least one external device of the external devices is connected to the external port device to output at least one video signal including the video signal to the external port device.

Abstract: An image displayer having a function of automatically eliminating an afterimage, comprises a signal processing unit for processing signals inputted from an external device and outputting video signals and audio signals to a display and a speaker, respectively, a detecting sensor for detecting whether there exists a user within a predetermined range from the display when a still picture corresponding to video signals of an identical pattern outputted from the signal processing unit is displayed on the display beyond a pre-set time, and a control unit for controlling the signal processing unit to display an afterimage-eliminating picture on the display when a signal corresponding to the non-presence of the user within the predetermined range is outputted from the detecting sensor, thereby eliminating the afterimage caused due to the still picture. Accordingly, the afterimage eliminating function is automatically performed without manipulation input of the user.

Abstract: An apparatus for quickly displaying a video signal on a display upon power ON using a microcomputer to control the display when the power is switched on. The microcomputer transmits a first control signal for regulating a gain of the video signal to a pre-amplifier, after a power circuit is switched ON, and outputs a second control signal for regulating bias level of the video signal amplified and outputted by a main amplifier connected to the pre-amplifier.

Abstract: A cathode ray tube display apparatus having a protection circuit which cuts off supply of a synchronization signal, i.e., the horizontal and/or vertical synchronization signals, to a cathode ray tube driving circuit in response to a state signal indicating when frequencies of the synchronization signals exceed a limited range. The protection circuit prevents the cathode ray tube driving circuit from being damaged by abnormal variations in the frequencies of the synchronization signals.

Abstract: An automatic contrast control circuit for a display device includes a distance detector installed on a front panel of the display device, for detecting a distance existing between a user and the front panel and generating a distance signal representative of the detected distance; and a micro-computer for outputting a contrast gain control signal based on the distance signal output from the distance detector, and outputting on screen display (OSD) data indicative the contrast gain signal. A display control panel is provided on the display device to permit user input of an automatic contrast control (ACL) function and an OSD function. The distance detector includes a light emitting unit for emitting light from the display device, and a light receiving unit for receiving the light reflected from the user to detect the distance between the user and the front panel of the display device.
