  • Patent number: 11910554
Abstract: Implementations are described for a modular power distribution unit (PDU) for a rack-mountable power tray or power shelf. The modular PDU includes a housing defining an input face and an opposing output face, and a plurality of power cables extending to the input face. The modular PDU further includes one or more second power connectors arranged at the output face, and distribution circuitry configured to distribute power from a first power bus and a second power bus to the one or more second power connectors. The modular PDU further includes one or more fasteners configured to attach the output face of the housing to the face of the power tray or power shelf, wherein the one or more second power connectors are retained in a coupled configuration with the one or more first power connectors.

  • Patent number: 11862966
Abstract: According to an embodiment, a surge protector includes a capacitor, a switch, and a first transistor. The capacitor charges based on an input power to the surge protector. The switch turns on when the capacitor is charged to a charge threshold. The surge protector outputs the input power when the switch is turned on. The first transistor turns on when a voltage of the input power exceeds a first input voltage threshold such that the capacitor discharges to below the charge threshold and such that the switch turns off. The surge protector stops outputting the input power when the switch is turned off.

  • Patent number: 11522442
Abstract: Embodiments herein describe control circuitry for operating a PFC converter in an AC-DC power supply under light loading conditions. The embodiments herein improve the power factor by identifying an optimized phase offset (?) between an AC reference voltage and an AC reference current used to control the PFC converter. In one embodiment, the control circuitry iteratively changes the phase offset between the reference voltage and current and measures its impact on the power factor. The control circuitry then selects the phase offset that results in the best power factor to use when operating the PFC converter under light loading conditions.

  • Patent number: 5568365
Abstract: A compact power supply features a package with an included volume of less than about 250 cubic centimeters, a switching power supply contained in the package, the power supply capable of providing more than about 10 watts of power, and connections from input power to and for output from the power supply. The power supply can be configured on three circuit boards, in a U-shaped configuration. The boards may be partially or fully potted to provide improved thermal performance and safety. The electronic components are carefully selected and matched for maximum output performance.
