  • Publication number: 20080101515
Abstract: Disclosed is a detector and method for detecting symbol timing synchronization in a digital communication system or an analog communication system. There is provided a detector and method for detecting symbol timing synchronization of a received signal in a communication device, in which a signal is generated by multiplying: i) a received signal or its time delayed signal, and ii) any one of a signal obtained by adding the time delayed signal to the received signal or subtracting the time delayed signal from the received signal, a signal obtained by Hilbert transforming the received signal, and a signal obtained by differentiating the received signal, and the detector outputs the generated signal as a signal for determining symbol timing synchronization.

  • Patent number: 5831879
Abstract: Method and filters for reducing the number of circuit components and/or the operating speed of the components of a filter used to shape digital transmit symbols for conversion to analog modulation communication systems. A digital signal is processed using M circuit stages. The stages multiply a delayed digital signal and a further delayed digital signal with a corresponding filter coefficient. The output signals of the stages are multiplexed to provide shaped digital transmit symbols. The stages are configured to reduce the number of circuit components and/or operating speed.

  • Patent number: 5400348
Abstract: In a digital radio system, data is transmitted in packet form. A check or parity bit is used to determine whether any errors have occurred between data transmission and demodulation. That same check bit is used to identify its location in a packet. From that check bit location, it is then possible to identify the starting and ending data bits in a packet and to correctly interpret the packet data.
