  • Publication number: 20080085039
Abstract: Provided is a fingerprint matching method and apparatus using fingerprint minutiae and fingerprint binary images. The method includes: constructing a template fingerprint database by extracting minutiae information and a binary image of a first fingerprint image; and extracting minutiae information and a binary image of a second fingerprint image to be authenticated and performing authentication by aligning the extracted minutiae information and the binary image of the second fingerprint image with data in the template fingerprint database. Accordingly, the fingerprint matching using the fingerprint binary images is additionally performed, thereby reducing a false acceptance rate (FAR) compared to a conventional minutia-based fingerprint authentication method.

  • Publication number: 20060206723
Abstract: Provided are an integrated authentication method and system using biometrics. In an integrated authentication system including a client, a plurality of service providing servers where user identification information of the client is registered, and an integrated server where user biometric information together with the user identification information is registered, to integratedly authenticate access of the client to the service providing servers, the client acquires authentication of access to a first service providing server by using the user biometric information and the user identification information through the integrated sever. When the access is permitted, the client receives a first access permission message generated by the first service providing server and stores the first access permission message. The client acquires authentication of access to a second service providing server by using the first access permission message and the user identification information.

  • Publication number: 20060126904
Abstract: A method for multi-model biometric identification and a system thereof are provided. The method for performing multi-model biometric identification by using a plurality of single biometric identification systems includes: receiving from the single biometric identification system a single biometric comparison value generated by comparing biometric information of a user for whom an identity confirmation request is received, with biometric information of previously registered users; with the single biometric comparison value, generating a comparison value vector for each registered user; in relation to each of registered users, verifying whether or not the comparison value vector is generated by comparison of an identical person and generating a determined value; and by using the determined value, generating a candidate list listing in a predetermined order, users who have highest probabilities of being the user who wants to be identified.

  • Publication number: 20060120575
Abstract: A method and apparatus for classifying fingerprint image quality and a fingerprint image recognition system are provided. The method includes dividing a fingerprint image into a plurality of blocks, calculating and vectorizing quality classification parameters with respect to the respective blocks, obtaining quality classification values for the respective blocks by inputting the vectorized quality classification parameters into a trained quality classifier, and selecting a representative value of the quality classification values and determining the representative value as the quality of the fingerprint image. Since the quality of the fingerprint image can be accurately judged, reliability of the fingerprint image recognition system is increased.
