The actuator includes a frame and a number of actuating portion for driving the sliding plate to move in a transversal direction. The sliding plate includes a number of projections adjacent to contacts. All the arms extend in a plurality of rows, parallel to one diagonal of the floor, and the arms in a same row are arranged side by side. Each passage includes an upper receiving portion extending into an adjacent passage in the same line, therefore, the passages in the same line are stringed, and a continuous support member is formed between two rows of stringed passages.

One of the sidewalls fabricates a receiving channel (1220) substantially parallel to an upper surface of the recessed area and a fastening channel (1222) substantially perpendicularly communicating with the receiving channel. A bolt (16) is screwed in the fastening channel. When the IC socket is used, a sensor (20) is received in the receiving channel and restricted in the proper position by the bolt screwed in the fastening channel.

A sensor is received in the aperture to provide signals to a controller during being operated at high temperature. The controller can reliably control the temperature of the whole assembly in light of the signals from the sensor, thereby avoiding damage of the IC by exorbitant temperature.
