In some embodiments, the case has a molded multi-layered construction. In such embodiments, the exterior back surface of the case may be configured to conceal the existence of the storage compartment or may alternatively be transparent to facilitate scanning of personal items held in the storage compartment without requiring removal therefrom. In some embodiments, the protective case provides different user viewing operating positions while minimizing bulkiness and weight.
