The electronic device includes one or more application processor, memory electrically coupled with the one or more application processor, and a wireless communication chipset which supports a short-range communication and is electrically coupled to the one or more application processor, wherein the wireless communication chipset is configured to receive an advertising packet broadcast by a first external device with a specified interval, and wherein the memory stores instructions that, when executed by the one or more application processor, cause the electronic device to obtain first locations of the electronic device, measured in response to receiving a plurality of first advertising packets by the wireless communication chipset while the first external device is located in a first point, and determine a first geofence corresponding to the first external device located in the first point, based on at least some of the obtained first locations.
