  • Publication number: 20230041675
Abstract: A method for controlling a powertrain of a hybrid vehicle includes the following steps performed by a hybrid controller: determining whether an ambient air temperature is lower than a predetermined temperature; driving a motor and operating a heating disc of an electrically heated catalytic converter disposed in an exhaust pipe of an internal combustion engine during a predetermined operating time when an ambient air temperature is lower than a predetermined temperature; supplying ambient air to the heating disc; and varying a flow rate of the ambient air supplied to the heating disc in response to a temperature change of the heating disc.

  • Publication number: 20220074362
Abstract: A method for controlling an exhaust aftertreatment system for a vehicle includes: determining, by a controller, whether or not a driving state of the vehicle satisfies a clogging determination condition; estimating, by the controller, a normal temperature of a rear end of a catalytic converter upon determining that the clogging determination condition is satisfied; calculating, by the controller, clogging indexes using an actual temperature of the rear end of the catalytic converter measured by a temperature sensor and the estimated normal temperature; determining, by the controller, whether or not it is necessary to settle clogging of the catalytic converter by comparing the clogging indexes with reference ranges; and executing, by the controller, a clogging settlement mode upon determining that it is necessary to settle clogging of the catalytic converter.

  • Patent number: 9523321
Abstract: A system and method for controlling an exhaust after-treatment apparatus for vehicle are provided. The method includes detecting, by a controller, signals from a front lambda sensor and a rear lambda sensor of a Lean NOx Trap (LNT), when an engine is driven in a rich mode and acquiring, by the controller, a temperature of exhaust gas detected by a temperature sensor, when the engine is driven in a rich mode. Further the method includes comparing, by the controller, the signals from the front lambda sensor and the rear lambda sensor to detect a breakthrough time when a breakthrough occurs between the signals from the front lambda sensor and the rear lambda sensor. In addition, the controller is configured to determine an additional rich time period based on the breakthrough time and the temperature of exhaust gas.

  • Publication number: 20160108784
Abstract: A white smoke reduction system for a diesel vehicle reduces white smoke generated from a diesel vehicle. The white smoke reduction system includes a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) mounted on an exhaust line connected to an engine to oxidize exhaust gas through a catalyst. A filter module is connected to a rear end of the DOC to collect particulate matter contained in the exhaust gas and is coated with a ceria (CeO2) ingredient such that sulfur oxide is separated at a temperature equal to or more than 600° C.

  • Publication number: 20160032874
Abstract: A diesel particulate filter includes a carrier in which facing sides of a plurality of filter walls are spaced apart from each other form an exhaust gas inlet channel and an exhaust gas outlet channel, and a plurality of plugs are disposed to block a back end of the exhaust gas inlet channel and a front end of the exhaust gas outlet channel. A porosity or a pore size of the filter walls in a front part of the carrier is different from a porosity or a pore size of the filter walls in a back part of the carrier. The front part and the back part of the carrier are divided based on a longitudinal direction of the exhaust gas inlet channel, to prevent soot trapped in the carrier from being concentrated in a back-end part of the diesel particulate filter.
