    Abstract: A wet-type electrophotographic image forming apparatus includes a development unit for developing an image on a photosensitive medium, a developer cartridge for supplying a developer to the development unit, a developer collection unit disposed between the development unit and the developer cartridge for collecting developer remaining within the development unit into the developer cartridge, and a control unit for controlling the amount of developer to be collected through the developer collection unit to prevent an overflow of the developer at the developer cartridge while the developer is collected. A method for collecting developer remaining in a development unit into a developer cartridge in a wet-type electrophotographic image forming apparatus comprises the steps of turning on a pump to supply developer to the development unit, collecting developer remaining in the development unit in both a natural manner and a compulsory manner.

    Abstract: An image registration apparatus and method are provided for correcting image alignment errors irrespective of a possible black density loss in an image alignment correction process, in which a sensing unit senses first test patterns and second test patterns of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black, a reference value setting unit sets a reference value using the results of sensing the first test patterns obtained by the sensing unit, a comparing unit compares the reference value set by the reference value setting unit with the results of sensing the second test patterns obtained by the sensing unit; and a correcting unit corrects image alignment according to a comparison result of the comparing unit. Accordingly, the image registration apparatus and method controls the reference value which is compared with sensed voltages corresponding to test patterns.

The warming-up method includes the steps of turning on a heat source when the image forming apparatus is turned on or when a wake-up event is generated in a power saving mode, driving an image fix-related driving body for rotating a heated roller and a pressing roller, thereby heating the rollers; driving a main driving body and rotating an OPC drum after driving the image fix-related driving body; and stopping the sub-driving body and the main driving body when surface temperature of the heated roller and surface temperature of the pressing roller reach an objective temperature, respectively, by means of heat from the heat source and rotation of the heated roller and the pressing roller.

    Abstract: Apparatus and method are provided for controlling a second cassette feeder (SCF) in an image forming device. The control apparatus comprises a main body; a SCF mounted in the main body for supplying sheets of paper; a control unit in the main body for controlling the image forming device; and a SCF control unit for communicating a state of the SCF to the control unit and controlling the SCF. The control method comprises steps of initializing the main body and SCF; deciding whether the SCF is mounted; sending SCF-driving data to the SCF from the main body control unit if the SCF is mounted; and controlling the SCF by the SCF control unit using the driving data. SCFs are therefore compatible since the control unit in the main body downloads driving-related data into the SCF when the SCF is detected, while the SCF programmable ROM and firmware are shared.
