    Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method of capturing data relating to objects in a scene. The method of some embodiments uses a set of one or more depth sensors to capture data relating to the object. In some embodiments, the method uses one dynamic range-adjusting depth sensor to capture the same target with different resolutions. Alternatively, in some embodiments, the method uses multiple depth sensors. While capturing a target object, the method of some embodiments tracks the current position and the target surface, in order to provide seamless 3D data relating to the object.

    Abstract: Some embodiments provide a system for reconstructing an object from scanned data. In reconstructing, the system captures a visual representation and a volumetric representation. The visual representation is captured to reconstruct the object, while the volumetric representation is captured to identify the object from a group of other objects. In some embodiments, the object is a human being, and the visual and volumetric representations are used for a full facial dimension (FFD) identification system (FFDIS).
