  • Patent number: 11964611
Abstract: A method of autonomously controlling interior lighting of an occupied vehicle is provided. The method includes receiving vehicle-to-vehicle information from a nearby vehicle. A controller controls an illumination setting of an interior light of the occupied vehicle based on the vehicle-to-vehicle information.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 4, 2022
Date of Patent: April 23, 2024
Assignee: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc.
Inventors: Sunil Dalal, John D. Harkleroad

  • Patent number: 10144341
Abstract: A vehicular lighting system includes low beam headlamps, high beam headlamps and a control unit configured so that during operation of the lighting system, the control unit determines the operational status of the high beam headlamp and selectively adjusts the illuminating intensity of the low beam headlamp. In particular, the brightness of the low beam headlamp can be increased during periods where the high beam is not being, thereby allowing the low beam to more closely approximate the brightness of the high beam, but without the glare associated with conventional high beam patterns. In this way, artificially low illuminating intensity limitations placed on the low beam headlamps can be overcome during periods where the lighting system is operating but the high beams are not in use.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 9982857
Abstract: A light with improved moisture control for a vehicle. The light has a housing and a lens, the housing and the lens forming a light interior. The light also includes a lamp that is at least partially enclosed within the light interior. A vent duct is included and extends through the housing from the light interior to an exterior of the light. An anti-humidity fan is present within the vent duct and is operable to move moisture from the light interior to the exterior of the light and thereby prevent fogging of the light lens.
