  • Publication number: 20130219362
Abstract: A binary augmented constraint network (BACN) allows dependency relationships to be determined without solving constraints. BACN models design decisions as first-class members and expresses how decisions make assumptions upon each other using logical constraints. Pairwise dependency relations (PWDRs) are determined based on the BACN. A design rule hierarchy (DRH) based on assumption relations among design decisions identifies parallelizable tasks within software design. Modules within the same layer of the hierarchy suggest concurrent tasks. Dependencies between layers or within a module suggest possible need for communication. In one configuration, decisions within the top layer of the hierarchy are the most influential design rules, which dominate the rest of the system, and are kept stable. The decisions within subsequent layers assume design decisions in previous layers. The design decisions within each layer are clustered into modules.

  • Patent number: 7584418
Abstract: A system and method for prefabricating information pages is disclosed, in which the necessary steps to retrieve and package information requested by a user are preemptively performed by the computer system. When the user later makes an explicit request for information, the desired information can be immediately displayed to the user without the delays associated with contemporaneous retrieval and packaging of the information. The prefabrication system of the invention can be configured to automatically tune its processing to the changing conditions that exist in the computer system, which can be used to maximize use of available system resources. The present invention can be scalably deployed to perform coordinated prefabrication services on multiple, distributed computing nodes. In an embodiment, the invention is completely non-intrusive, in which no changes to existing application are required to implement prefabrication of pages.

  • Publication number: 20050258073
Abstract: An aromatics/naphthalene rich stream obtained by processing heavy gas oil derived from tar sands and cycle oils derived from cracking heavy gas oil may optionally be blended and subjected to a hydrogenation process and a ring opening reaction typically in the presence of a zeolite, alumina, or silica alumina based catalyst which may contain noble metals and or copper or molybdenum to produce paraffinic feedstocks for further chemical processing.

  • Patent number: 6524071
Abstract: A structure is provided for retaining one or more fasteners in a corresponding one or more apertures of a first fan element so that, as the first fan element is attached to a second fan element by engaging the fasteners with the second fan element, the fasteners cannot inadvertently fall out of the apertures. The first fan element can thus be attached to the second fan element without the installer having to insert fasteners through apertures in the first fan element while maintaining registration between the first fan element and the second fan element. According to one aspect, the first fan element is a fan blade arm and the second fan element is a fan center hub. According to another aspect, one or more of the fasteners are machine screws.
