Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provides a method and apparatus for composing a representative description. The method includes selecting a first query candidate (QC) from multiple query candidates (QCs), identifying a second QC from the multiple QCs, analysing overlap in content of the second QC and in content of the first QC. Each of the multiple QCs has a score. The first QC has highest score. Each of the multiple QCs is extracted from a cluster of one or more digital documents.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and apparatus for generating a suggestion list. The method includes merging a current set of multiple query candidates (QCs) with two or more historical sets of multiple QCs to obtain two or more corresponding modified sets and merging the two or more modified sets. The current set of multiple QCs is extracted from multiple digital documents (DDs) belonging to a first time period. Each of two or more historical sets of multiple QCs are extracted from multiple DDs corresponding to at least two time periods. Each of the two or more time periods begin prior to the first time period. Each of the two or more time periods is greater that the first time period. Each of the two or more time periods differ in duration and recency.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for generating a query candidate set. The method comprises automatically tagging a sequence of words in a digital document to obtain a sequence of tags, comparing the sequence of tags with one or more reference sequences and including the sequence of words in the query candidate set if the sequence of tags matches the one or more reference sequences. Each tag of the sequence of tags represents a part of speech.
