  • Patent number: 9554744
Abstract: Social media databases are minded for data related to a subject person. The data in indicative of a level of ultraviolet light exposure of the subject person. An ultraviolet violet exposure profile for the subject person is generated based upon the data and a health assessment report provided. The data may include timestamped images of the subject person and other related persons. The skin characteristics within images are analyzed to determine an ultraviolet light exposure level for the subject person from each image. The skin characteristics may include skin color, freckling and blemishing. The ultraviolet light exposure profile may be developed over an extended interval based upon the image timestamps. The health report may be used to mitigate risks, such as skin cancer, associated with exposure to ultraviolet light.

  • Publication number: 20160378201
Abstract: A method for dynamically altering computer input device parameters based on a contextualized user model, including measuring environmental factors that effect a user's input device, monitoring a user's historical use of a computing device to determine the user's input device parameters, using environmental factors and user's input device parameters to parameterize a cognitive model for the user and expected state transitions, using the cognitive model to predict optimal settings of the user input devices, and comparing the predicted optimal settings to desired user interface modifications, and adjusting the input device to generate these modifications.

  • Publication number: 20160260341
Abstract: In an approach for determining a preferred learning style of the user, a computer receives user information of a user. The computer collects data for user model development, wherein data includes actions performed by the user. The computer creates one or more associations between actions in the collected data for user model development and received user information. The computer determines a preferred learning style of the user based on the created one or more associations.

  • Publication number: 20160081611
Abstract: An information processing system, computer readable storage medium, and methods for analyzing the airflow related health of a person. A method includes obtaining an audio sample of a person's verbal communication, obtaining geographic information of the person, querying a remote server based on the geographic information, and obtaining additional information from the remote server, the additional information being related to the geographic information, and extracting contours of amplitude change from the at least one audio sample over a period of time, the contours of amplitude change corresponding to changes in an airflow profile of the person. The method further includes correlating the contours of amplitude change with periodic episodes typical of airflow related health problems, and determining, based at least on the additional information, whether the contours of amplitude change result from at least one local environmental factor related to the geographic information.

  • Publication number: 20160080286
Abstract: A shared resource system, a method of managing resources on the system and computer program products therefor. A resource consolidation unit causes identification of identical memory segments on host computers. The resource consolidation unit may be in one or more host computers. Each identical memory segment is associated with multiple instances of resources provisioned on at least two host computers. The resource consolidation unit causes provisioned resources to be migrated for at least one instance from one of the two hosts to another. On the other host computer the migrated resources share respective identical memory segments with resources already provisioned on the other host.

  • Publication number: 20150339584
Abstract: A method, system, and/or computer program product establish a data organization format for displaying data to a specific user. A first set of data, which is organized according to a user-selected data organization format, is received from a user. A cognition bias, which defines a preferred manner in which the user cognitively interprets data, is identified by being associated with the user-selected data organization format. The cognition bias is also associated with one or more other data organization formats that support the cognition bias. A second set of data is received and formatted using the one or more other data organization formats that also support the cognition bias. The second set of data is then displayed using the one or more data organization formats that also support the cognition bias.

  • Publication number: 20150332345
Abstract: People associate with and respond positively to those they perceive to share similar physical appearances. Accordingly, an advertisement for a product or service is selected for rendering on a display based upon a human model having a resemblance to a human viewer. An advertisement may be created with several different models having varying physical characteristics. Physical characteristics of the viewer are compared with each model and the advertisement chosen based upon the model that more closely resembles the viewer. Furthermore, physical characteristics of a model may be augmented to more closely resemble physical characteristics of the viewer. Augmentation includes modifying physical characteristic color, morphing physical characteristics, and enhancing attractiveness of morphed physical characteristics.

  • Publication number: 20150294080
Abstract: Ultraviolet light poses both health benefits and health risks. A method, device and computer storage program balances the health risks and benefits ultraviolet light exposure with personal sensitivities and preferences for these health risks and benefits. An ultraviolet violet light exposure level of a subject person is estimated by monitoring data from a plurality of sources. A personal sensitivity to ultraviolet light exposure is also estimated from data from various sources. A recommendation for the subject person is generated based upon the estimated risks and benefits of ultraviolet light exposure.

  • Publication number: 20150254563
Abstract: A method for detecting an emotional stressor in a network includes detecting changes in emotions of users of the network, correlating individual ones of the changes in emotions, in accordance with a map that illustrates spatial, social, or temporal connections of the users, and inferring a cause of at least one of the changes in emotion, based on the correlating. A computer program product for detecting an emotional stressor in a network comprises a computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therewith. The program instructions are executable by a processor to cause the processor to perform a method including detecting changes in emotions of users of the network, correlating individual ones of the changes in emotions, in accordance with a map that illustrates spatial, social, or temporal connections of the users, and inferring a cause of at least one of the changes in emotion, based on the correlating.
