  • Patent number: 7272529
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided to analyze a dual wall structure having at least one hollow core therein and having the same unknown material sound velocities in walls and in post as well. A transducer is located in at least two different positions with respect to the structure, whereby the transducer propagates an ultrasonic wave toward the dual wall structure. A portion of the ultrasonic wave is reflected back to the transducer. One wave traverses a portion of the dual wall structure that has a core filled with a medium having a known material acoustic property. A second wave traverses a portion of the post that has an unknown material sound velocity. From time of flight measurements of the above mentioned waves, the wall thickness and core shift, if any, can be determined.

  • Patent number: 7235824
Abstract: An active gate includes a substrate of a first conductivity type, a channel of a second conductivity type formed in the substrate, a first gate region of the first conductivity type formed in a corresponding first portion of the channel, and a first contact connected to the first gate region. The first gate region covers a first area, and the first contact covers a fraction of the first area. A pixel or register element includes an active gate, a second gate region of the first conductivity type formed in a corresponding second portion of the channel, and a second contact connected to the second gate region. The second gate region covers a second area and is spaced by a first gap from the first gate region. The second contact covers a fraction of the second area. The pixel or register element further includes a first gate electrode insulatively spaced from and disposed over the first gap.

  • Patent number: 7235676
Abstract: An improved catalytic process for the preparation of epoxides from alkenes using a combination of transition metal salt, an inorganic promoter and an organic additive in absence of solvent or in the presence of a solvent with commercially available hydrogen per oxide has been disclosed. Thus, styrene oxide was prepared at a kilogram scale in 86% isolated yield with purity >95%.

  • Patent number: 5780858
Abstract: An electromagnetic radiation imaging device comprising an energy absorbing layer overlying an array of thin film transistors (TFTs). each of the thin film transistors incorporates a dual gate. The lower gate provides row selection, while the upper gate of the same device modulates current conducted by the transistor. By utilizing dual gates, a reduction in the number of transistors is achieved over prior art imaging devices, thereby increasing production yield. Furthermore, the use of dual gate transistors provides increased versatility in choosing the bias point of the transistors.

  • Patent number: 4987738
Abstract: A particulate trap system for use in the exhaust system of an internal combustion engine has an exhaust conduit with a main branch, a bypass branch, and a diverter valve disposed therebetween for selectively diverting exhaust gas through one of the branches. A particulate filter is disposed within the main branch, and a burner assembly having an outlet disposed upstream of the filter is operable to raise the temperature of the filter to a level sufficient to incinerate particulates thereon. A burner supply conduit extending between the exhaust conduit and the burner, having a metering orifice disposed therein, supplies exhaust air to the burner when the diverter valve closes the main branch and channels the exhaust flow through the bypass branch during the regeneration cycle of the system.

  • Patent number: PP15595
Abstract: A new and distinct variety of Cymbopogon commutatus grass is provided. The new variety was discovered during a mass selection program that was carried out in India in a cultivated area, and offers significant advantages over a typical plant of the species. More specifically, the new variety exhibits superior drought tolerance, a vigorous perennial growth habit, and lighter green leaves than typically exhibited by the species. The plant produces an essential oil having an enhanced geraniol and geranyl acetate content that is useful to form perfumes and in flavor applications. Asexual reproduction can be readily carried out by the rooting of slips.
