  • Patent number: 10319116
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for dynamic color adjustment of electronic content. In one embodiment, a system may determine a first background color corresponding to a color theme for use in presentation of electronic content, the color theme further specifying a first text color for displaying text. The system may convert the first text color to hue-saturation-value (HSV) color space, and modify a brightness component of the first text color to generate a second text color. The system may determine a first contrast ratio between the second text color and the first background color, and determine that the first contrast ratio satisfies a first threshold contrast ratio. The system may display the electronic content using the first background color, the electronic content including text having the second text color.

  • Patent number: 9336185
Abstract: A system and method for generating an electronic publication (e.g., an e-book) sample having an end point designated in accordance with a set of heuristics. A start reading location is identified within the content of an electronic publication. A sample block is identified which includes a percentage of the content following the start reading location. A set of heuristics (e.g., rules) configured to identify an end point for the e-book sample is applied to a selected portion of the content within the sample block. The end point of the sample block is designated according to the set of heuristics and the electronic publication sample having the designated end point is stored.

  • Patent number: 9317622
Abstract: Content may be stored as structured language data that may be separated into a formatting skeleton (skeleton) and fragments. The skeleton may be extracted from the structured language data to retain at least a portion of the formatting information of a structured language data. The fragments may be segments of presentation data from the structured language data and may be mapped to a location within the skeleton. Upon rendering, a client device may only have to load the skeleton and one or more fragments associated with a specified viewing location in order to quickly and accurately render a portion of the content. By rendering only some of the fragments of the structured language data, the client device may minimize user-perceived latency during processing and rendering operations.

  • Patent number: 9286668
Abstract: A panel view module receives a comic comprising one or more pages, which comprise one or more panels. The panel view module may identify candidate comic panels and determine confidence levels for the candidate comic panels. The panel view may also generate a panel view for the comic based on the confidence levels for the candidate comic panels.
