  • Patent number: 9203480
Abstract: A distributed wireless communication system includes multiple access points, each with one or more antennas. The access points do not necessarily have synchronized transmitting and receiving radio frequency oscillators. Approaches to channel estimation between the access points and one or more wireless clients account for the lack of synchronization, and do not necessarily require capabilities at the clients that go beyond required or optional features of standard wireless Ethernet (e.g., 802.11n, 802.11g, or 802.11a), thereby supporting “legacy” clients while supporting high data throughput approaches that provide coherent transmission from the multiple antenna of the access points.

  • Patent number: 9194418
Abstract: An improved cone nut for a structural channel is provided. The cone nut does not require gluing of the cone to the channel nut as in conventional methods. The cone instead houses the channel nut by a friction fit locking mechanism, resulting in a secure attachment of the cone to the channel nut which prevents failure of the cone by separation from the channel nut which would, in turn, render the channel nut useless.

  • Publication number: 20150328592
Abstract: The present invention relates to the preparation of novel antibiofouling Thin Film Composite (TFC) Reverse Osmosis (RO) membranes on porous polysulfone (PSf) support of thickness 30-40 micron. TFC-RO membranes were prepared by interfacial polymerization between neat m-phenylenediamine (MPD) in water and pyridine tricarboxylic acid chloride (PTC) or a mixture containing PTC and trimesoyl chloride (TMC) in mixture of hexane+dichloromethane. The best results in terms of flux, NaCl rejection and antibiofouling property were obtained with 2:3-1:1 weight ratio of PTC to TMC. The present invention also relates to the preparation of antibiofouling TFC membranes by the interfacial polymerization between mixture of melamine+MPD and TMC. The best results in terms of antibiofouling property, NaCl rejection and flux were obtained with 1:1 weight ratio of MPD to melamine.

  • Patent number: 9178846
Abstract: A source network address and port translation (NAPT) mechanism is described that reduces or eliminates the need to log any NAT translations. As described herein, a mapping between a subscriber's private address to a public address and port range is determined algorithmically. Given a particular mapping rule, as specified by the service provider, a subscriber is repeatedly and deterministically mapped to the same public network address and a specific port range for that network address. Once the public address and port range for a subscriber are computed, the particular ports for each session for that subscriber are allocated dynamically within the computed NAT port range on per session basis.

  • Publication number: 20150301573
Abstract: Latency-based power mode units for controlling power modes of processor cores, and related methods and systems are disclosed. In one aspect, the power mode units are configured to reduce power provided to the processor core when the processor core has one or more threads in pending status and no threads in active status. An operand of an instruction being processed by a thread may be data in memory located outside processor core. If the processor core does not require as much power to operate while a thread waits for a request from outside the processor core, the power consumed by the processor core can be reduced during these waiting periods. Power can be conserved in the processor core even when threads are being processed if the only threads being processed are in pending status, and can reduce the overall power consumption in the processor core and its corresponding CPU.

  • Publication number: 20150304979
Abstract: Multiple radio transmissions are processed to determine, for each of a number of directions of arrival of the radio transmissions, a most direct direction of arrival, for example, to distinguish a direct path from a reflected path from the target. In some examples, the radio transmissions include multiple frequency components, and channel characteristics at different frequencies are compared to determine the direct path.

  • Publication number: 20150301152
Abstract: Directional characterization of a location of a target device makes use of multiple radio transmissions that are received from the target device. In some examples, each radio transmission is received at a first antenna at a fixed location, and is also received at a second moving antenna. The received transmissions are combined to determine the directional characterization, for example, as a distribution of power as a function of direction. In some examples, the received radio transmissions are processed to determine, for each of a plurality of directions of arrival of the radio transmissions, a most direct direction of arrival, for example, to distinguish a direct path from a reflected path from the target.

  • Patent number: 9158851
Abstract: Methods and computer readable medium for allowing a user to participate in an online conversation for a head content includes receiving a response from a user for the head content. The response from the user is geo-tagged with a location of the user. A counter indicative of number of responses received for the head content at the location is updated for the head content to include the response from the user. The responses received for the head content from the plurality of users is filtered to generate a subset of the responses related to the location of the user. The subset of responses and an interactive tag cloud for the head content is presented to the user. The subset of responses is presented in a ranked order. The tag cloud identifies one or more locations that have received greatest number of responses from the plurality of users.
