In the context of a method, the determination is made by receiving an indication relating to a level of criticality of the emergency. This method also includes determining a projected route for an emergency vehicle servicing the emergency. The method further includes comparing the projected route of the emergency vehicle with a projected route of the vehicle. The method still further includes determining whether the projected route of the vehicle should be altered. In response to determining that the projected route of the vehicle should be altered, the method includes causing a signal to alter the projected route of the vehicle to be provided. A corresponding apparatus and computer program product are also provided.
