  • Patent number: 6599304
Abstract: An intravascular catheter system for the treatment of occluded blood vessels that includes tissue displacement or hinged expansion members that are movable from a closed to an open position. An actuating assembly may be provided for moving the tissue expansion members between an open and closed position to exert a substantially lateral distal end force upon the region surrounding an occluded blood vessel. The tissue expansion members may stretch apart, tear or otherwise disrupt a vascular occlusion sufficiently to create a pathway that may support the passage or placement of a guidewire or an interventional vascular device across the occlusion or obstruction. Methods of crossing or displacing a vascular occlusion are further provided that include the positioning of a vascular catheter having at least one hinged spreading member positioned at the distal region of the catheter that is responsive to directed force along the longitudinal axis of the catheter.

  • Publication number: 20030086856
Abstract: Polycrystalline gallium nitride (GaN) characterized by having the atomic fraction of gallium ranging from between about 49% to 55%, an apparent density of between about 5.5 and 6.1 g/cm3, and a Vickers hardness of above about 1 GPa. Polycrystalline GaN can be made by hot isostatic pressing (HIPing) at a temperature ranging from about 1150° C. to 1300° C. and a pressure ranging from between about 1 and 10 Kbar. Alternatively, polycrystalline GaN can be made by high pressure/high temperature (HP/HT) sintering at a temperature ranging from about 1200° to 1800° C. and a pressure ranging from about 5 to 80 Kbar.

  • Publication number: 20020172638
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method for treating discolored natural diamond, especially Type IIa diamond and Type IaA/B diamond with nitrogen as predominantly B centers, for improving its color. The method includes placing a discolored natural diamond in pressure transmitting medium powder which is consolidated into a pill. Next, the pill is placed into a high pressure/high temperature (HP/HT) press at elevated pressure and elevated temperature within the diamond stable range of the carbon phase diagram for a time sufficient to improve the color of said diamond. Finally, the diamond is recovered from said press. Colorless diamond can be made by this method.

  • Patent number: 6195722
Abstract: A method and apparatus for third party agent transaction deferral on a host bus. A host bus transaction request is received from a device, and transaction information related to the transaction request is stored in an out of order queue. • Patent number: 5910049
Abstract: An elastomeric coupling system for securing axially aligned driving and driven shafts includes a pair of hubs coupled to one another by an annular flexible coupling element. The hubs are fixed to respective driving and driven shafts, and the coupling element is then secured between the hubs by anchoring assemblies. Each anchoring assembly includes anchoring members which are fixed to respective hubs by fasteners received in the hubs. The fasteners are oriented generally transverse to the aligned axes of the shafts, providing ready access for installation and servicing. As the anchoring members are secured about the hubs, axial and radial loads are exerted on peripheral beads of the coupling element to produce retaining forces sufficient to withstand considerable torsional loading during use.

  • Patent number: 5592610
Abstract: A method and apparatus for enhancing the fault-tolerance of a network finds a set of computing nodes within the network which are available for use in the network upon detection of a faulty component. This set of available computing nodes is found by first determining a set of computing nodes within the network which are physically connected together. A connectivity value for each computing node within this set is then determined. A subset of this set is then generated such that each computing node in the subset is able to transfer data to and from each other computing node in the subset. This subset is then utilized as the set of available computing nodes. In one embodiment, the set of computing nodes which are physically connected together is the largest set of physically connected computing nodes in the system.

  • Patent number: 5022894
Abstract: There is provided a method for making diamond and CBN compacts which comprises positioning a catalyst metal disc and a barrier disc intermediate a diamond or CBN mass and a carbide mass. The catalyst metal disc is adjacent to the diamond or CBN layer and the barrier disc is intermediate said catalyst disc and the carbide mass. In order to prevent unregulated flow of metal bond from said carbide mass to the diamond layer and to prevent depletion of metal bond from the carbide near the carbide/diamond interface, the barrier disc has a surface area virtually identical to that of the carbide mass. Such arrangement of materials is subjected to temperature and pressure conditions within the diamond stable region but below the melting point of the barrier disc.
