  • Publication number: 20060287435
Abstract: A thermoplastic polyolefin composition containing polypropylene or a copolymer thereof, an ethylene copolymer, and a peroxide. In one embodiment, one of the polypropylene or copolymer thereof or the ethylene copolymer is a continuous phase, while the other is a discontinuous dispersed phase therein. In another embodiment, one of the polypropylene and ethylene copolymer components has a relatively low melt flow index and the other component has a relatively high melt flow index. Optional components include a metal stearate, a primary amide, a heat and/or light stabilizer, and a coloring additive. Articles molded from these thermoplastic compositions are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20050048845
Abstract: The present invention is a kit for adapting a tube lamp fixture made for a first size of lamp tubes into a fixture that accommodates smaller lamp tubes. The kit comprises a conversion apparatus that itself comprises a bar in which are disposed one or more plugs for connecting to the sockets in the existing tube lamp fixture, said plugs being slidably disposed on the bar to adapt to the position of the sockets in the fixture. The conversion apparatus further comprises one or more slidably disposed sockets on the opposite side of the bar that may be positioned independently from the plugs. Appropriate wiring permits the supply of electrical energy to the tube lamps. The invention further comprises a master-slave ballast conversion assembly. The ballast conversion assembly comprises a chain of circuit boards connected by cables and connectors that enable a single ballast to control two or more tubes through a chain of circuit boards.

  • Patent number: 5782953
Abstract: Surface hardened ferritic or austenitic stainless steel articles, especially automobile exhaust flanges and Hego bosses, are produced as sintered powder metal parts having a relatively soft ferritic core and a hardened outer surface layer. The method of manufacturing such parts includes compacting a stainless steel powder, followed by sintering, repressing, and surface hardening in an atmosphere containing nitrogen so that the final part density is at least 88% of theoretical density. Such parts have improved strength and are useful as automotive exhaust flanges and Hego bosses.
