Abstract: The present invention relates to a disinfecting article, a sealable housing system for disinfecting articles, and a disinfecting composition comprising a hypohalite composition and a surfactant, for cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, with improved stability and extended efficacy for cleaning and disinfecting surfaces with residues such as foods, dirt, microorganisms and many other common contaminates. The disinfecting article is preferably a wipe that is comprised of high denier fibers and stored in a sealable housing system to ensure the stability of the substrate in the hypohalite releasing solution.

The wipe substrate is selected from hypohalite stable materials that do not catalyze decomposition of the associated aqueous hypohalite releasing compositions.
