Publication number: 20120183544Abstract: The present invention provides fusion proteins for the detection and treatment of neuroectodermal tumors. Previous work demonstrated that chlorotoxin is specific for glial-derived or meningioma-derived tumor cells. The current invention has extended the use of chlorotoxin-cytotoxin fusion proteins to treat the whole class neuroectodermal tumors such as gliomas, meningiomas, ependymonas, medulloblastomas, neuroblastomas, gangliomas, pheochromocytomas, melanomas, PPNET's, small cell carcinoma of the lung, Ewing's sarcoma, and metastatic tumors in the brain. Also, diagnostic methods are provided for screening neoplastic neuroectodermal tumors.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 19, 2012Publication date: July 19, 2012Applicant: THE UAB RESEARCH FOUNDATIONInventors: Harald W. Sontheimer, Susan A. Lyons

Publication number: 20060152341Abstract: A method of processing a communication apparatus includes putting the communication apparatus into a distribution channel for distribution via one or more intermediaries to a user of the communication apparatus, the user of which can forward the communication apparatus to a desired recipient. The communication apparatus includes a substrate and a communication element coupled to the substrate and is constructed of one or more materials that are a bio-technical nutrient. The communication apparatus is received from a recipient directly or via one or more intermediaries. The communication apparatus is processed to prepare a second communication apparatus for distribution to another user.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 10, 2005Publication date: July 13, 2006Inventors: William McDonough, Michael Braungart, Bernard David, Susan Lyons, Peter Walts

Patent number: 5642966Abstract: A compliant tower is disclosed having a foundation connected to a wide-bodied compliant framework with a plurality of vertically extending legs a minimum of horizontal bracing. The compliant framework is configured to maintain a substantially wide, open riser suspension corridor. A topside facility is supported by the compliant framework and a plurality of freely suspended production risers extend through the riser suspension corridor from the vicinity of the topside facility to communicate with the reservoir. These production risers are spaced to provide clearance to prevent riser interference in response to normal flexure of the compliant tower and normal environmental loads on the risers. A riser support assembly is configured to accomodate relative motion between the risers and the topside facility, supporting the production risers in tension near their upper ends to provide the principal load transfer between the riser and the compliant framework.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 1995Date of Patent: July 1, 1997Assignee: Shell Oil CompanyInventors: Denby Grey Morrison, Susan Lyon Smolinski, Peter William Marshall, David Amstrong Huete, Romulo Gonzalez
