  • Patent number: 7228140
Abstract: A system and method allow an authorized Service Application or an authorized network entity to retrieve a geographic position of a mobile station. A home Positioning Node for receiving a mobile station's geoposition request from the Service Application and for generating a Positioning Request message including a home Positioning Node identification parameter to a serving Positioning Node. The serving Positioning Node validates the home Positioning Node identification parameter prior to sending the geographic position of the mobile station to the Service Application. The home Positioning Node further accesses and stores data in an internal database. An anchor Switching Node for receiving, forwarding, processing, generating and sending Positioning Requests. The Anchor Switching Node further supports a mobile station's hand/off, retrieves the geographic position of the mobile station, and sends it to the authorized network entity.

  • Patent number: 7027799
Abstract: A home Message Center (MC) in a telecommunications network is capable of receiving a short message, the short message being originated by an A-subscriber and destined to a B-subscriber, and determines that prepaid charging is applicable for the short message for at least one of the A-subscriber and the B-subscriber. A PrePaid Charging Service Control Point (PPC SCP) is connected to the home MC and is responsible of prepaid accounting for the at least one of the A-subscriber and the B-subscriber. The home MC sends to a PPC SCP an indication for notifying the PPC SCP that prepaid charging is applicable for the short message for the at least one of the A-subscriber and the B-subscriber, and based on the indication, the PPC SCP charges a prepaid account of the at least one of the A-subscriber and the B-subscriber for the short message.

  • Patent number: 6615042
Abstract: A method in a Wireless Intelligent Network (WIN) of handling subscriber services when a serving Mobile Switching Center (MSC) does not support all WIN triggers. The WIN includes a Home Location Register (HLR) having a subscriber profile that indicates the WIN triggers required to support a particular subscriber's active services. When an invoke message is sent from the MSC to the HLR, a WIN Capabilities (WINCAP) parameter is included and indicates the WIN triggers supported by the MSC. The HLR identifies a Service Control Point (SCP) for each subscriber service that requires a WIN trigger and is not supported by the MSC. The HLR then queries each identified SCP for call-treatment instructions. If an SCP determines that its service is essential, a response is returned to the HLR with an instruction to deny service to the subscriber.
