    Abstract: The present invention relates to a high pressure vascular balloon catheter wherein the walls of the tube attached to the balloon-forming segment are reinforced with a braided ribbon member. The walls of the inner tube that provides the lumen for a guidewire may also be reinforced in the same way. The reinforcement has the dual effect of providing strength against rupture under pressure and prevention of ovalizing or kinking during insertion into tortuous vessels of a vascular system.
