    Abstract: A distress signalling device comprises a casing having a compartment therein, a belt adapted to be wrapped about a body part of a person, a mechanism for detachably securing the belt to the casing in such a manner that the belt cannot be removed from the person until it is detached from the casing by an authorized person, an electrical circuit disposed in the compartment, the circuit including an alarm, a mechanism for activating the circuit, and a source of electrical power serially connected to one another, the circuit being arranged so that the alarm cannot be de-activated until the belt is detached from the casing.
