Abstract: Methods are provided for displaying advertising content to a user in an on-line environment using ad metadata. In accordance with a general embodiment, a set of brand rules is created for the display of brand advertising content in the on-line environment. Similarly, a set of general advertising rules is created for the display of advertising content in the on-line environment. One or more interactive processes are displayed to the user, with each interactive process being designed to obtain user information and/or user attributes from the user. A personalized knowledge base is created for the user based upon the user information and/or user attributes obtained from the user. The personalized knowledge base is then utilized to display content to the user that includes advertising content that is in compliance with both the brand rules and the general advertising rules.

Abstract: A graphical user interface for changing characteristics, properties, or attributes of graphical objects in which particular values of particular characteristics are represented themselves as graphical objects called coupons. A user changes a characteristic of a graphical object by selecting a coupon representing a desired value of the characteristic and indicating that the coupon is to be applied to the graphical object. A coupon is selected and applied using a drag and drop technique. Particular values of particular characteristics of a first graphical object can be transferred to a second graphical object by use of a tinker window graphical user interface. A tinker window contains one or more coupons representing the state of the first object in terms of characteristics of the first object. The user selects a coupon from the tinker window and applies the coupon to the second object to transfer to the second object a characteristic of the first object.

Abstract: A hand-held digital camera including a CCD for receiving an image and converting the image to a digital file of image data, a memory for storing the image data, a communication port for communicating between the hand-held digital camera and a digital computer, and a user interface for receiving input commands from the user. The user interface includes a LCD and a plurality of switches for permitting the user to communicate with the camera intuitively. A host interface facilitates the transfer of commands and data between the digital camera and the host computer via a communication link and permits a user to operate the digital camera remotely from the host computer. The LCD includes function icons which the user can cycle among using one of the switches. The LCD also includes option icons for certain of the function icons, which the user can cycle among using a second switch.
