Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide for a method of assessing the health of a companion animal. The method can include providing a first group of companion animals, the first group comprising a first plurality of companion animals; subjecting each of the first plurality of companion animals to a performance assessment; evaluating a performance of each companion animal based on a plurality of attributes, wherein the attributes are associated with the health of the companion animal, wherein the evaluating can include providing a performance profile; accounting for the attributes exhibited by each companion animal during the performance; assigning a performance index based on the performance profile given the attributes accounted for.
