  • Patent number: 7314697
Abstract: A toner composition includes toner particles having at least one spacer of substantially monodisperse latex particles that are dried and attached to the toner particles, in which the attached latex particles have an average particle size of from about 60 nm to about 500 nm. The presence of the spacer enables improved toner transfer efficiency maintainability while maintaining excellent tribo level, tribo stability with aging, charge through performance and cohesion behavior with aging.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 30, 2004
Date of Patent: January 1, 2008
    Assignee: Xerox Corporation
Inventors: Mary L. Mc Stravick, Sue E. Blaszak, Paul C. Julien, Susan J. Kremer
  • Publication number: 20040137352
Abstract: A toner composition includes toner particles having at least one spacer of latex particles or polymer particles attached to the toner particles, in which the latex or polymer particles have an average particle size of from about 60 nm to about 500 nm. The presence of the spacer enables improved toner transfer efficiency maintainability while maintaining excellent tribo level, tribo stability with aging, charge through performance and cohesion behavior with aging and includes forming toner particles with grinding, and following completion of the grinding step, attaching to the toner particles at least one spacer selected from the group consisting of latex particles and polymer particles, wherein the latex particles or polymer particles have an average particle size of from about 60 nm to about 500 nm.

  • Patent number: 6066421
Abstract: A process including:mixing toners in a fluidized bed;electrostatically loading the resulting toner mixture onto a donor roll;ion charging the resulting layer of toner on the donor roll; anddeveloping a latent image with the resulting charged toner layer on the donor roll member, wherein the color characteristics of the resulting developed color images encompass substantially the entire PANTONE.RTM. color space.

  • Patent number: 5557393
Abstract: An electrostatographic imaging process includes forming an electrostatic latent image on an image forming device, developing the electrostatic latent image on the image forming device with at least one developer containing carrier particles and a blend of two or more compatible toner compositions, and transferring the toner image to a receiving substrate and fixing it thereto. Among the compatible toner compositions that may be selected are toner compositions having blend compatibility components coated on an external surface of the toner particles and particulate toner compositions containing therein blend compatibility components or passivated pigments. Electrostatographic imaging devices, including a tri-level imaging device and a hybrid scavengeless development imaging device, are also provided for carrying out the described process.

  • Patent number: 5370962
Abstract: A process for the preparation of colored toners which comprises providing a first toner comprised of resin, pigment particles, internal charge additive, and optional surface additives; adding thereto a second toner comprised of resin, pigment particles, internal charge additive, and optional surface additives; and wherein said toners contain blend compatibility components.

  • Patent number: 5281502
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for forming two-color images which comprises (1) charging an imaging member in an imaging apparatus; (2) creating on the member a latent image comprising areas of high, intermediate, and low potential; (3) developing the low areas of potential with a colored developer comprising a colored first toner comprising a polymer resin selected from the group consisting of styrene-butadiene copolymers, styrene-acrylate copolymers, styrene-methacrylate copolymers, and mixtures thereof, a blue first colored pigment of the formula C.sub.32 H.sub.16 N.sub.
