  • Publication number: 20040256419
Abstract: An apparatus for removing air from finely divided particulate material comprises a housing including a vent; an inlet to the housing; an outlet from the housing; a helix, rotatably mounted in the housing, the helix being adapted upon rotation to feed a particulate material from the inlet to the outlet; a motor mounted to the helix for the purpose of rotating the helix; and a compression assembly mounted to the outlet for compressing the particulate material passing through the outlet.

  • Publication number: 20040132897
Abstract: An integrated process for compounding a catalyst containing silicone rubber composition. The process is undertaken by introducing a treated or untreated filler into a mixer (1) and maintaining the filler in a highly turbulent, fluidized state at a temperature of from 80° C. to about 350° C. while introducing a polydiorganosiloxane and subjecting the resulting mixture to a shearing force sufficient to achieve an average particle size of from 1 to 1000 microns thereby forming a flowable organopolysiloxane powder composition. If the filler is untreated a treating agent is introduced into the mixer prior to, during, or after addition of the polydiorganosiloxane. The flowable organopolysiloxane powder composition is then directly transferred to a bulk solids cooling device (7) which cools the composition to a temperature below the decomposition and/or activation temperature of the catalyst for use in the composition.

  • Publication number: 20020198310
Abstract: An integrated process for producing organoperoxide catalyst containing silicone rubber compositions with substantially reduced processing time and labor input compared to standard methods for producing such compositions. The process involves forming a powdered silicone rubber composition comprising a polydiorganosiloxane gum and a reinforcing filler, treating the reinforcing filler with a treating agent at a temperature greater than about 80° C., cooling the powdered silicone rubber composition by means of a bulk solid cooling apparatus, and admixing the cooled powdered silicone rubber with a peroxide catalyst either before, during, or after a massing step.
